Wow, lots of very interesting responces. I'm envious to some of your locations! I'm close enough to Boston that I have a plane overhead every minute or so and was just out on the porch talking to my sister and was asked if I was listening since I always seem to have my eyes on them haha. I would love to live as close as some of you do. I could sit and watch them all night.I think I may stay in tonight and just fly some of these airports and get even more envious :(

If you are envious Dan, imagine being in my situation. I live 34km from Swedens major international airport (Arlanda, ESSA) and 10km from the closest airport (Bromma, ESSB). Not many planes taking off outside of my window, more like small dots already at cruise level. :(

I live 19 miles NNE from Vancouver Intl. and the closest airport is CYPK, Pitt Meadows about 4 miles from me.Good post Dan

I am either close to 5t6...or kelp...I am working on a PPL and I have flown both, but when I am in Fort Worth I am close to kdfw and the lockheed airfield (don't remember what its called right now, but I live right under the approach for the southern approach)

KMCI is the closest "Big airport". It's a 30-35 minute drive, but I'm almost directly south of it so I get planes flying overhead quite a bit.KOJC is the closest airport period. About a 10 minute drive, and I get quite a few Cessna's flying around during nice days.

I guess for the the major airport would be PHOG and the minor airport PHJH. If I didn't live on Maui but rather Oahu, PHNL would definitely be my response.From my porch I look right down one of the runways of PHOG and have a front row seat to the arrivals from the U.S. mainland making their approach into PHOG between the two mountain ranges on Maui. Before the demise of Aloha and ATA, 737's were quite a common sight.....sadly this isn't so today. At least Alaska's picked up the slack!Aloha!Josh Pu'u

I live about 30 minutes away from both KDFW and KDAL. I quite commonly see American MD80s or American Eagle ERJs flying approach or departure patterns to/from KDFW right over my house. Occasionally bigger birds, too. I also frequently see Southwest 737s heading to/from KDAL, too. It will be great to simulate all those 737-700 flights in and out of KDAL when the NGX is released!Nearest airstrip of any size? Probably F46 or KHQZ, tossup as to which one is closer.

That bites William, I guess in my situation it isn't much different since after I hear them and look up I hardly ever find them. Another airport not too far away is Hanscom airforce base. That's not far at all. I see some C141's here and there. I hear the military jets once in a great while but maybe see one once a year.I think when I retire I'll leave the city and get a big back yard I can park a Piper Cub in :(

My house is 5 nm south of LIRS, one of the biggest Italian Air Force airport and home of the Eurofighter.Frequent visitors are C-130J, C-27J Spartan, Piaggio P180, Aermacchi MB339, F-16, Tornado and some biz-jets and charter (A320 family o B737)

EDDK is the closest major hub.EDKB the closest smaller airfield.

Hi Richard, Lucky you! So many people in the world hate the idea of living to close to an airport but I would be happy to live as close as coule be. Would love to see any cool pics you have.
