September 10, 201015 yr Yes indeed ! Music to my ears and even though I lack words, the closest comparison thatsprings to my mind is the sound of a washing machine ! :Nerd:More seriously, the engines do have quite a distinctive sound, pretty high pitched. Jean-Charles Montagne
September 10, 201015 yr I would describe it as a 6 year old girl screaming as loud as she can :) but instead of making you want to stab someone, it makes you warm an fuzzy inside ;)

September 12, 201015 yr I gather you don't fancy "the Queen", then (humpbacked and four.......engines)? :( BrunoWell, I love the Queen. The 747 is my favourite little Jumbo! But I have not flown in that many different aircraft yet. I still have yet to fly, for example, in an Airbus A342 or A343 or an A330 series.I can't wait for the new 748 and see how it really is. I just hope airlines try to make the seats a tad bit wider and with a little more leg room in the Tourist class section, because long hauls, even from Eastern North America to Europe (about 6-7 hours) can be very uncomfortable with tight seating. But as for my favourite comfort aircraft, without a doubt, it is the A320. I flew it at least 1-2 times with Air France and talking about plenty of leg room and a decent seat! :( I love flying my "iddy biddy Jumbo" CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400, socket 775/3GHz/1333MHz bus/6MB cache MOBO: Asus P5E3 Deluxe WiFi-AP@n/Intel X38 chipset RAM: 4GB Kingston HyperX 1333MHz. rated 7-7-7-20, matched pair (2 x 2GB) GRAPHICS: Sapphire Radeon 5770HD 1GB (w/ fan) MONITOR: Samsung 24", 2494HM LCD wide-screen 1920x1080 SOUND: SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS HARD DRIVES: 1xWestern Digital WD1600JD SATA 160GB (primary/Windows XP and system boot drive) 1xWestern Digital WD3200AAJS SATA2 320GB (secondary/Flight Simulator 2004 running off WinXP Pro 32-bit, games video editing drive) 1xWestern Digital 500GB Black series SATA2 (Windows 7 64-bit: FSX is running off Win7; Windows XP Professional 32-bit) CASE: Antec Sonata III 500W OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit for FSX; Windows XP Pro 32-bit for other things.
September 12, 201015 yr does the us still fly F4s, i noticed on airliners.net some pics of phantoms in 2010 that were flying for the USA-Air forceI haven't got a clue Dylan. I haven't kept up with the USAF for ages. Growing up though they were still in use, far after there were much faster jets. The F4 was very stable, even with heavy damage, it's manuevering was pretty great also. Amazing how much I forget, when I was younger I could probably list every serial number of every active F-4 in service by heart,,, ok maybe not ALL of them. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
September 12, 201015 yr Tupolev-154.. One of the fastest passenger subsonic jets ever produced. And there is nothing like the sound of these three Kuznetcov engines...Yes, I agree with you - :( MD-11 is also up there too. It's great that I have both for FS thanks to PMDG and Project Tupolev :( Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)
September 12, 201015 yr does the us still fly F4s, i noticed on airliners.net some pics of phantoms in 2010 that were flying for the USA-Air forceThe US military does use some of the old F4's as UAV's for aerial target practice to test air-to-air and surface-to-air missles.Kevin.
September 12, 201015 yr Easily the MD80 series. It looks so fast, like an arrow flying through the air
