November 6, 201015 yr Now that I have the new Orbx Fjords, I would appreciate simmers recommendations on good Bush planes, I have one of the early Beaver X models, but think a twin would be better for the longer distances up in the North country.............Many thanks!! B42L8
November 6, 201015 yr Now that I have the new Orbx Fjords, I would appreciate simmers recommendations on good Bush planes, I have one of the early Beaver X models, but think a twin would be better for the longer distances up in the North country.............Many thanks!! B42L8There are quite a few to choose from: the Aerosoft Twin Otter, the Lionheart Kodiak, the Carenado 185 Bush, the RealAir Taildragger Scout..Much depends on what is important to you... aircraft top speed, cockpit instrumentation, hauling capacity etc.I happen to enjoy the RealAir Scout and Lionheart Kodiak... both with good instrumentation, easy to fly into any airstrip, but the Kodiak has G1000 glass, turboprop engine, and much higher cruising speed. November 6, 201015 yr I would consider the Grand Caravan from CarenadoI fly it all the time, its a nice bird. November 6, 201015 yr I fly it all the time, its a nice bird.It is nice, but big and not very fast... :( Bert
November 6, 201015 yr I have the Aerosoft Twin Otter and it is a great aircraft. It has great STOL capabilities and the model is great and a very nice VC. Highly recommend it. VATSIM: P2 | I1
November 6, 201015 yr Aerosoft's Twotter is a great FS add-on, well worth having, and I hope they'll consider doing an FS version of the reborn souped up variant that is currently in production. The Catalina from Aerosoft is another fun one from that stable if landing on water is something that appeals, as indeed is A2A's Cub if you prefer something lighter. Conversely, if you like heavy metal, you could always go mental and get the old Alphasim (now Virtavia) Martin Mars.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
November 6, 201015 yr For a bush twin, the Aerosoft Twin Otter is hard to beat. If your thoughts turn to vintage iron, Milton Shupe's D18 taildragger and amphibian are interesting, and freeware. If you like bigger planes, don't forget about the venerable DC-3. The Dakota's STOL is pretty impressive for an old timer. The Ozx mod of the Grumman Goose is really terrific and also freeware. It's faster than the Twin Otter. While I know you asked about twins, the plane I fly the most in Alaska is the Carenado C185F bush plane. Lose not thine airspeed, lest the ground rise up and smite thee.
November 6, 201015 yr It is nice, but big and not very fast... :(So it's more similar to the Twotter!
November 6, 201015 yr I don´t know what kind of PC you have. But if you have a slower machine, like I had a few weeks ago, then I can highly recommend the Twin Otter from Aerosoft. It´s very framerate friendly and as others already said: It has impressive STOL capabilities. In my Opinion it still has a nice VC and you get it in a few variants (Wheels, Floats, Skis, steam gauges and with a more modern COM and GPS system).I love that plane and I still fly it a lot.
November 6, 201015 yr Author Thanks to all the responders, I have the Kodiak, and that is a great plane as well.......................I read somewhere the AS Otter was not a realistic as they thought it so=hould be, but I am going to look at it now...............I have a super-fast machine, so frame rates are no problem with all the scenery at almost full max...................also just added the updates to the Beaver X, that is another great plane for these areas, but you have to take the time to get there!!...................PS, is there anything new on the scene for a Beech Baron 58?? loved that Dreamfleet model in FS9!! November 6, 201015 yr It is nice, but big and not very fast... As fast as Twin Otter but smallerLmaire Real Deraps
November 6, 201015 yr For GA 6-pax twins, my favorites are the Carenado Piper Seneca II and the RealAir Beechcraft Duke B60. Lose not thine airspeed, lest the ground rise up and smite thee.
November 7, 201015 yr Love the Aerosoft twin otter, always the first aircraft to be reinstalled, good model, great sound, good VC, and fantastic FPS, and just generally fun to fly (especially in crap weather)
