B737NGX Manuals

Unfortunately, it's a fact.

But surely Roberts postings on here must contradict that?Or have you been told something different regarding your situation?

So they fixed the issue for the original post, Rmusick, which suggests there is an issue. The rest of us are pushed aside with lame excuses about the original manuals being worse quality therefore we are getting a good deal. I am tempted to send mine back and ask for a refund. There are standards and we have rights. Although, I can understand loyalty to a company, I know we are being sold a sub-standard product in terms of print quality and I do not accept the excuses. Like I said before in my other topic the information in these manuals is good but that's not enough.I'm going to show examples to my printer, if I decided to keep them, and as a 'PROFESSIONAL' he will know what the deal is.

Umm, is anyone else completely confused? What "original manuals?"

PRINT QUALITY QUESTIONS:Some diagrams that appear in these manuals are inexplicably created using an inverse background. In other words, the authors elected to draw some diagrams, such as the profile view of the airplane in white against a black background. The natural offshoot to this design decision is that such diagrams can be hard on printing machinery, which are naturally optimized for black on white. We have seen a few reports of "fading" and "weak printing" where the black backgrounds have fade-through areas or imperfections in the printing. We have reviewed these reports with the printer and reviewed them against other options and we have determined that these imperfections are normal and not unexpected for this type of document.Even with these imperfections, the quality grade of these manuals is higher than those issued to line pilots. (We compared some of the reports to Capt. Randazzo's airline issued manuals, and the quality of ours is SIGNIFICANTLY better.) We could, in theory, eliminate the imperfections by going to full color printing on gloss paper, but cost of the manuals would easily exceed $1,000... (This must be why nobody offers such an option to real-world pilots.)Taken from the Manual sticky, look at the last paragraph, no need to be confused, just keep up. I have even underlined it for you.RegardsIMG1.jpgLeft:colour QRH, Right: Flight Crew TrainingSo you would be happy with this?

Completely. From what I've read, everyone thinks they are great. I am looking forward to unwrapping mine tomorrow, but I'm confident they will be great.

got the same issue also...varying difference across the manuals, also submitted support ticket, to be given same response that they are better than what real pilots get...so why did the other user get his replaced and not mine? My manuals have exactly the same defect as his.?

Don't expect anything from PMDG, that's it. We give them our hard earned money, they give us a poorly printed manuals ( which is worse than a basic home printer ) and we have no support or response other than they are better than the real manuals.POOR CUSTOMER SERVICEEDIT: Maybe this is Europe related as we are less likely to send back s**t copies due to expenses...so.....they send the rejects our way! Thanks

Chris Farrell

So you would be happy with this?
I am very happy with mine thank you.

That's great, can you show us the quality of your manuals?EDIT: are you merely happy with poor quality or are the manuals printed to higher standard?

Chris Farrell

I am very happy with what the manuals contain, as in the information etc, they are great in that sense an excellent product. I am just not happy having paid a very high cost, especially taking into account the high shipping costs(which I still believe could be done cheaper to the UK - and my invoice on the parcel actually says a lower figure than what I was charged) My issue is the quality of namely the FCOM1 and the Flight Crew Training Manual. MY FCOM2 QRH, charts, lightts guide and posters are all fine.I have seen the post where someone reviewed them, and they too have the differing print quality between FCOM1 and FCOM2. It not just the White on black images, but also if you look at the PMDG logo at the top of the page, and the "DO NOT USE FOR FLIGHT" txt also the line that seperates the headers from the main txt, in the FCOM1 its faded and doesnt look as bold and clear as that in FCOM 2, so quite simply the standard PMDG response that its better than what real pilots doesnt stand, as if that was the case all of the manuals would have the same issues.I have faith in PMDG to do something about this, as the orginal poster here appears to have suffered the same issue and as had their manuals replaced, however I hope that this isnt going to be as suggested that those here in the UK are going to suffer because of shipping issues. I have already in my opinion paid over the odds for what even PMDG have now stated was a poor method of shipping using USPS(they have suspened that service) My product is deffective and at such a large price for the goods I am hopefull that PMDG will rectify this.I would quite like to see those that have manuals they believe not to be defective post some images of pages from their FCOM1 and FCOM2 to show that what I have is part of a handfull of defective prints, an admission that PMDG have admitted to in this post. As there are already many examples of these defective prints on these forums.I also suggest that PMDG take this up with their printers, as in essence the quality that these printers have put out in these cases is damaging the reputation of PMDG. I think they should also look into better options for shipping, as they should be able to ship them faster and cheaper than this. I have orderd larger heavier packages from US before that havent cost this much - In fact Im flying to the states in a week or so time and paying less for that trip than I paid for shipping!

Hi,As far as print quality, I have to agree. From what I've seen, FCOM Volume #1 print quality is inferior to that of FCOM Volume #2. In fact FCOM Volume #1 is the only print quality problem I've seen. Two schools of thought, either the originals that were used to make these copies were of poor grade or the printer did a poor job in reproducing these manuals. I'm not a printer so I do not know what could of caused the problem, but there is a quality issue with FCOM Volume #1. At least with the Chief Pilot set I received. The manuals and the diagrams/graphics are readable, they just look a little worn. I have not come to any part of the kit yet where the print is unreadable. As far as reverse (black/white) printing, the black background with white graphics/text are crisp and clean in Volume #2 but not in Volume #1. It has nothing to do with gloss/non-gloss paper as some have suggested, if that were the case both volumes would suffer the same faded print problem but they don't. The issue lies elsewhere.
