Hello,I was wondering, since the B717 has the same cockpit as the MD11 which you already developed so beautifully, is there any chance that you might make a B717 for FSX in the mix of developing your other projects?It would give us a short haul A/C which uses the same knowledge that we've acquired in learning to fly the MD11.Thank you,Bob

1- 737NG2- Dash - 83- 777-xxxI too want a 717, but reality is it will be awhile before PMDG will do it, thats their development schedule above, thats about till the end of 2011 id expect.

"in the mix" they certainly won't do it considering how diligently they approach every project, but in due time it is certainly possible. Of course there is this 'secret' project that is in the works...

They also got the 747 v2 to work on.My personal opinion, as much as I think an MD80 with modern avioncis would be fun to fly, PMDG should pass on this. Instead, look to make the 787, the plane of the future, rather than resurrect another plane of the past. B717 was a clear disappointment for Boeing and not many were put into service and has been long out of production.

If it wasn't for cargo, the MD-11 would also have been a clear disappointment. Personally I have no interest in the 717 because it doesn't haul boxes

The 717 is one of my favorite aircraft, I would love to see PMDG do one. Just because it wasn't a commercial sucsess in reality does not mean it can't be a sucsess in flight sim, and the airlines that do use it love it, Qantaslink, Hawaiian and AirTran. Plus we have a lack of high detail short haul aircraft, they either have systems or eyecandy. The NGx will be one of the first to include both, and more would not go astray. I would think there is more of a market for short haulers than long haulers. But that's just my opinion and PMDG can make anything they want and I would still buy it.

I agree, this argument about 'popularity' or 'success' is totally alien to me, for example I would love if someone modeled such 'unsuccessful' aircraft as Piaggio Avanti or Beech Starship - constructions that made immense contribution to aviation, have very unique qualities yet they never achieved commercial success.

Well Piaggio Avanti, as much as I don't have interest in this aircraft, was recently beautifully modelled by Wilco. As a bonus you get a Ferrari in the package to roam the airports while waithing for the NGX...

Scott, I do not want to get into the current discussion but for one point, and that is simply that Boeing made no real attempt to sell the 717, as they concentrated on their NG series.

Very true. More than anything, the aircraft was a success (and rather profitable, all things considered), but Boeing saw it as a potential threat to 737 sales, so out it went.

Yeah, there are several Avantair flights every day where I live. I live half a mile from the threshold of one of the runways. Some people say it looks like a catfish, but I find them quite futuristic and attractive!

Seeing as 1. I have a thing for T-tails and, 2. I live in Hawaii (Hawaiian Airlines operates B717s), I too would love one. Especially since i hope to fly it in real life at some point...god willing! But even i agree that the 7 1 isn't the most widely used airliner. To my knowledge (im sure there's a few more somewhere in the world) Hawaiian, AirTran, and QantasLink are the only operators. If PMDG did do a 71, there arent very many carriers or routes to choose from unless you just fly for fun. Now having just said all that, with the NGX nearing completion and the Dash 8 and Triple 7 in development, the only widely used airliners i can think of not made as a payware addon (good or not but not down right rubbish) would be the 767-400, MD90 and the 717. So who knows where PMDG will head next. I know that other than the 777, the 71 has also been requested a lot lately after the MD11 came out.
