October 27, 200322 yr Anyone tried Hawaiin photoscenery from fsfreeware? Looks a little blurry in the pics.
October 27, 200322 yr I guess I don't understand how FSFreeware it can be Freeware if it costs $29.Thus, I will not be able to have it on my FS2004 and subsequently I will not be able to give you an answer about whether it's blurry or not.If someone could explain that, (FSFreeware that costs $29) I would be grateful.I have three or four Payware add-ons to my FS2004 and they all work just fine. I just am a little leary of Freeware that is not. Thanks,DonaldS
October 28, 200322 yr FS Genesis 10 meter mesh will make Hawaii look outstanding - really dramatic. I would recommend checking that out first.

October 28, 200322 yr Author Commercial Member Howdy:Steve Greenwood has a free 10-m mesh of the Hawaiian Islands on his site (look under Products - Freeware):http://www.fs-traveler.com/welcome.shtmlCheers, Holger
March 14, 200422 yr It's just plain awful...it is nowhere near 4.8m/pixel accuracy...I will never buy scenery from that site again.
March 14, 200422 yr Can anyone experienced please clarify?1) What does 9.6 meter mesh mean?2) What does LOD 10 - 11 - 12 mean? Are above two values related? In other words, can 9.6 meter mesh be LOD 10 or 11 or 12.....?3) and what about SRTM mesh, how many meter is it? and LOD....?Thanks for helpingLuigi ;-)
March 14, 200422 yr Luigi, here is some info that might helphttp://portal.fsgenesis.net/modules.php?op...q=yes&id_cat=10Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/PBTMCa.jpgCalVirAir International VACougar Mountain Helicopters & Aviation[link:www.cgrmthelos.com]Cougar Mountain Helicopters Best, Michael KDFW
March 14, 200422 yr Commercial Member HI Luigi,This, too, might help answer your questions:http://portal.fsgenesis.net/index.php?modu...y&ceid=5&meid=63) SRTM source resolution is either 30m or 90m. There is a 30m SRTM dataset for the US, but the NED 30m dataset is more refined, thus much better for terrain mesh purposes. Generally, the best LOD for 90m source data is LOD9, 76.4m.-------Justinhttp://www.fsgenesis.netHigh Quality Scenery for FS200x ________________ Justin - Toposim http://www.toposim.net
March 14, 200422 yr Hi friends, thanks for those precious links.Looking at the table it seems that is not possible to have a 9.6 meters mesh with a LOD10. Or i am wrong?!?Forgive my ignorance...........Luigi ;-)
March 14, 200422 yr Commercial Member HI Luigi,You're right. LOD12 is 9.6m. LOD10 is 38.2m.You may be confusing the source data resolution from the output LOD.Source data is what you start with. Output LOD is what you end up with. You could start with 30m source data and ouptut LOD10, 38.2m terrain mesh. Or, you could start with 10m source data and output 9.6m LOD12 terrain mesh. Or, you could start with 10m source data and ouptut 38.2m LOD10 terrain mesh. The resample.exe takes in the source data, chews on it awhile, and outputs terrain mesh at whatever LOD you tell it to.Hope this helps-------Justinhttp://www.fsgenesis.netHigh Quality Scenery for FS200x ________________ Justin - Toposim http://www.toposim.net

March 15, 200422 yr Let's keep this civilized! just for a change when dealing with you - or some of you - let's make clear - it is direct to some people here - as many wich are on this forums are very good and make a very positive inpact to the simm community.Ofcourse some people wich are frequently using this forum - are inclined to present facts - simply for their own and pure interest (or interest of their friends) - those who do so knows it well - and knows it well how this forum works or how they make it work - we are not all dummies out here - as some of you believe - and monitoring exactly what is going on.Let's close an eye on that - we know the story - since long time ago by now.Infacts - many on this forums talks just because they have a tongue - and that is that - without giving a clear picture of facts.Regarding Fsfreeware scenery - it is simple a straight foward thing - you do not have to pay for 29 us - - for 1 scenery - - if you do not like so - simply get a Mapserver membership - for 39.99 and download all the work we have done - without spend an extra penny other than the Mapserver membership - and if you do not like a scenery you get from there - simply scrap it! and get to the next - simple as that. If you than like stuff on cd - well those are the costs of sending the packages out - - and that includes TAXES we pay to the Inland Revenue!! you know what i mean!!any of you - before talking - get informed first - - than talk - if you really have to make any comments regarding others that are not part of your gang! but exist and are hobbyst exactly as you - no more no less - think twice first - and if you do not know - than get informed a bit better.Regardin John C comment - basically you are disgusting to keep bashing others - and why Avsim does not Ban you as they did with Rob Gainer - - or bashing others is a privilege of few here at avsim forum?? LOl - all of you should get the point by now - sure you do.Raimondo
March 15, 200422 yr Raimondo, not really sure where all that came from, but here is my take. I saw pics at the flightsim.com forum of mesh that was d/l from FSFreeware and it looked amazing in the pics. I went to your site and all I found on Hawaii was mesh and the photoscenery that was only available with a mapserver membership, if I missed it, then I am sorry, but if I am having to pay for the membership for the scenery, that is still not freeware, but payware to me. On the otherhand, I understand the costs incurred with a website and I have no problem with payware, have tons of it, just never bought mesh before and I am NOT a fan of photoreal scenery as it is usually to blurry close up and usually doesn't have autogen which is very important to me. I have used some of your freeware files from before and they were great, so I have no problem with your work, just my preferences.John is usually very tactful, so I was surprised at his post! LOL Everyone has their views though, sometimes it isn't what we want to hear.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/PBTMCa.jpgCalVirAir International VACougar Mountain Helicopters & Aviation[link:www.cgrmthelos.com]Cougar Mountain Helicopters Best, Michael KDFW
March 15, 200422 yr The MapServer is really nice.I am using it for all of the terrain mesh. It's definitely a good deal for those who have a fast connection and can download 3GB files in a few hours. The whole world in FS has great mesh for me now :-)For Hawaii I actually prefer to keep the default scenery with addon mesh. I am not the biggest fan of photoscenery since it takes a long time to load for me.
