AI Traffic is really annoying?

Featured Replies

Hello,I hope you all had a merry christmas and I did too with my Call of Duty Black Ops.Anyways I have been planning a flights now that I can fly heavy, medium and small aircrafts. My air traffic is on 100% and I have nearly all of World-of-ai traffic. The problem is that I usually do IFR Clearence which the ATC approves but sometimes when I taxi another aircraft just comes out of no where and taxis through me like there was nothing there and I also have my crash effect on but it doesn't do nothing. However sometimes the ATC tells me to hold short so I don't know why that happens. Secondly when I've taxied and hols short of the runway after an aircraft takes off or lands, I try to go on the runway and takeoff but this stops me because there are like planes landing at about every 1 minute so I can't take off and I have to hold short. I don't mind it but the annoying part is you don't know when to go because the ATC just focuses on the arrivals and does not tell me when to go to on the runway to takeoff. However I was waiting about 5 minutes and got frustated so I just taxied onto the runway but as soon as I get ready an aircrafts comes and land out of no where without the ATC saying and my aircrafts then crashes. Does anyone know how can I stop this and get a much better Air Traffic control than this default one? Thank You, Hope you all have a happy new year!

Hi,Much of this cannot be helped, but you can use AI Smooth to help a bit. A search of the library here will find it.

+1 on AISmooth, it's essential. Always remember, fs9/fsx ATC was never designed to manage the volumes of AI we load up - problems are inevitable.

Regards,

Mark

OK I'll try this AI smooth out but I keep on noticing that a heavy AI aircraft is sometimes parked in a small gate when I have Aerosoft Heathrow. For example a Boeing 777 British Airways is parked in a small gate where half of the aircraft is inside the building and the other half is outside. Can somebody tell me why these World-of-ai aircrafts are like this?

What you are experiencing is not typical. AI Smooth may nicely even the traffic out but it will do nothing towards your collision issues. The only time I know of when AI traffic will behave badly like that is when it is backing out for departure from the gate. Otherwise you should be able to taxi safely to the runway, get instructions and take off.The behaviour you are experiencing could be caused by a badly configured aircraft or airport - can you confirm this happens with various aircraft and at many airports?ATC will tell you to go onto the runway to take off if there is a gap in the arrivals, but will always give priority to arrivals. There are at least two alternative ATC systems but they do not properly interact with AI traffic so to an extent they may make the situation worse rather than better.Microsoft's ATC isn't perfect but a five minute wait when traffic is busy is not abnormal. You could reduce your traffic percentage to make more opportunities. Another thing you could do would be to reload the traffic while you are at the runway hold (there are a number of ways to do this, I think changing the clock by a minute will do it) because reloaded traffic is never on final approach so you are garuanteed clearance.John

OK and one more thing how do you install AI Smooth I'm confused?

Read this thread too that was just posted a couple of days ago.http://forum.avsim.net/topic/322390-ai-taxies-through-me/AI smooth is installed to your C: drive, not into FS. I use both AI Smooth and AI Separation together. Search for the file manual.zip by David SheffieldJim D.

I just turn it all off, I got so fed up with ai and default atc that I disabled it all, I run liveatc.net in the background and that satisfies my need with atc and "fake" traffic

Is FSUIPC free for FS2004 because it asks me for my register code and I was just wondering if I had to pay for it. And does AI Smooth require FSUIPC because if so is there any other good ATC freeware programmes for FS2004?

AI smooth works fine. You need FSUIPC installed but you don't need to register it for AI smooth to work. The FS ATC is sh one t. Try either RC4 or PFE. I use PFE. They are not free.vololiberista

Thank you for the FSUIPC but do you know any good freeware ATC? and AI smooth is awesome!

No, there are no free ATC programs.

Although using the unregistered FSUIPC will meet most of the needs you will have for a program that creates an interface between different addons, you really will be amazed at what else it can do for FS if you buy the registered version. I finally "bit the bullet" recently after years of feeling guilty about using such an important contribution to our hobby for free. I am now kicking myself for not doing this sooner. As soon as you configure the weather options it will give you, there will be one of the most dramatic improvements to realism you will ever see in FS. Combine that with REX and it's a whole new simulation...
