February 17, 201115 yr I'd just like to mention a little project that gives TrackIR-like functionality from a regular webcam - no IR reflectors, LEDs, special hat or otherwise required:-http://facetracknoir.sourceforge.net/home/default.htmIt is very much being actively developed at the moment, and I've been helping out especially with the filtering side of things. It's coming on leaps and bounds so I recommend checking it out.Kind regardsDaveI keep getting dll waterfall errors...?? I installed the intel package but it doesn't work John doe
February 17, 201115 yr I keep getting dll waterfall errors...?? I installed the intel package but it doesn't workPer the somewhat vague instructions at the website, you need to download and install the Head TrackingDemo from the Seeing Machines website. Install it then forget it. This is for those with with Windows 7. Art
February 17, 201115 yr Hehe;I'm cheap.. I use freetrack. Works great for me, but was a lot to work. But then again I love tweakin' FSX Cheers; Solren 401 Sqn RCAF "Rams" (ret.)
February 18, 201115 yr There is an ancient TrackIR profile I uploaded like 6 years ago to naturalpoint. It's called 'FS2004 Optimized Flight'thanks, *******. will try this one once I have everything installed and set up again, just got my brand new 1155 mobo with i5 2500k. so far this seems to be a fun combination if it comes to fsx.... Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
February 18, 201115 yr Per the somewhat vague instructions at the website, you need to download and install the Head TrackingDemo from the Seeing Machines website. Install it then forget it. This is for those with with Windows 7. That might have been the case for earlier versions, but I'm pretty sure the v1.3 installer contains all the dependencies you need (which is why its such a big download). Just run the setup.exe and then follow the instructions to patch to v1.4.Kind regardsDave
February 18, 201115 yr I downloaded facetracknoir and the other head tracking demo (I had the missing dll msg in Win 7 64 bit). The latest version of facetracknoir doesn't appear to have a FSX/FS2004 ini file? I downloaded it twice to double-check. The ini file as described in the setup is not to be found in the correct folder.Has anyone managed to get it working with one of the other ini files? I've tried it on two Win7 machines, both without the Seeing Machines SDK installed and they both worked out of the box with the v1.3 installer FWIW.The FS2004 ini file is included with the 1.4 update. It's a manual patch - download the update, unzip it and then copy the files to your FTNIR installation.Hope this helpsDave

I didn't see a patch there just a full installer. I can't access the page here. Will try again from home later.Adam Chillblast Core i5 14600KF Liquid Cooled RTX 4070 SUPER 32GB RAM. Just run the setup.exe and then follow the instructions to patch to v1.4.If the v1.3 package includes the installation file for Head TrackingDemo, you will still have to install it separately to get rid of the waterfall error. Updating to v1.4 will add the simconnect.ini needed for FSX. Are you saying the updating of v1.3 with v1.4 takes care of the waterfall error without the necessity to install the Head TrackingDemo? The Facetracknoir did work for me, but not nearly to the degree that TrackIR does. Perhaps I didn't fiddle enough with the settings, but it was rather sluggish and was lacking in range of movement. Art

That is to say, the FaceAPI stuff, VC2005 runtime and IPP runtime. Simply running "setup.exe" and clicking through the prompts should install all of these in one go. There shouldn't be any need to download or install anything else before, or after to get v1.30 working. This was certainly my experience on my computer. I'm not part of the team that developed the installer so I can't be 100% sure, but I will send all your feedback to Wim.Hopefully, with the new filtering the responsiveness (and smoothness) will be improved. So far the 1.5 update is shaping up well, we're just tracking down a few bugs in the filter implementation.Adam - the 1.4 update is right there on the sourceforge page (http://facetracknoir.sourceforge.net/information_links/download.htm)Kind regardsDave

When I had the waterfall error message, I consulted "known issues" on the website and acted per the following:Q: I get 'IPP waterfall error':A: This error is probably caused by the fact that you have a processor, that was not recognized by the IPP-runtime installer. To solve this, you should un-install the IPP-runtime (via Control Panel/Add Remove Programs) and then install the faceAPI demo. You can un-install the faceAPI demo after this.My problem was apparently due to the i7 processor I was using, not Windows 7, and the indicated solution did work. Art

As I see in the last post of Art_P, the answer to the 'IPP waterfall' error was correctly given. The problem with the IPP-installer is, that some newer processors are not recognized correctly and so it installs the wrong DLL's (sometimes). The installer of the faceAPI demo uses a newer IPP-installer, but it is necessary to remove the 'wrong' one first or it won't do anything...I'll try to correct this problem in the next 'full release'.As Dave also mentioned, we are very busy finishing update 5, which contains a number of improvements, among which the new filter, additional options for the short -keys etc. If there are still questions unanswered, please let me know?Wim

February 19, 201115 yr I've installed the patch and it "sort" of works in FSX. For some reason my VC view is at an angle even when webcam is aligned correctly. Am trying to work out how to make it level. I tried using TrackIR5 again but I'd rather get the TrackNoir working properly. Will continue experimenting:) Chillblast Core i5 14600KF Liquid Cooled RTX 4070 SUPER 32GB RAM. Internet: 1 Gig Fibre. HoneyComb Throttle & Flight System. Update 5 will be released shortly (as you've read before) and will make FSX-support definitely better .
