My Opinion on FS9 vs FSX

Featured Replies

Hiiflyer...or whatever. In reality.....a crew shouldnt be parked at the gate in the cockpit waiting for departure an hr before pushback. Most of the time the aircraft isnt even at the gate yet. Just sayin.......

FAA: ATP-ME, 737 CA, enough time in the 757/767 to be dangerous 🤠

...After all, FSX has only been on the market for almost 4.5 years...
A very good point (albeit I'm taking it a bit out of context). I think often it is easy to forget the lineage of FS2004 which has been such a strong sim for us. The number of unique and drastically different releases of FS throughout it's history is far fewer than all of the flight simulator titles. We had the MSFS x.0's, then FS95 with FS98 almost like a large patch, then FS2000, then FS2002 with 2004 again being almost like a very large patch. Now we have FSX, another large "do-over".FS2004 may have only been out 3-4 years when FSX arrived, but it's heritage dated clearly back to FS2002 6-7 years before FSX. In fact, FS2000 add-ons typically worked just fine in 2002/2004 bringing this time frame up to around 7-8 years (I accept, this is stretching it). FS2004 had a clear 6-7 years of development before FSX showed up on the market. With FSX now being around for 4.5 years, just imagine what it will be like in another 1.5-2.5 years! And that would be akin to FS9 at the time FSX was released. Both the vastly improved hardware we're seeing combined with the an accelerating release of add-ons for FSX makes me thing that FSX actually has a great deal of potential as another great simulator. I'd actually be happy if MS Flight was essentially for FSX what FS2004 was for FS2002. Improve the performance, smooth up some features and add a couple extra points here and there.

Guys,If this post doesnt apply to you, then dont respond. Why are you replying? This is not an argument. It is not a debate on which sim is better. I stated MY specs, MY expectations of how the sim should perform, MY experiences, and offered MY opinion on why I am sticking with FS2004. I have offered some advice to someone who might be trolling this forum looking for it. Not everyone has the fastest rig. Not everyone uses this software in the same way. The father who is interested in upgrading to FSX for his 9 year old son probably does not care about FPS or addons. But the serious simmer does.As far as having a bad attitude and insulting peoples intelligence- Grow Up. If you are using FSX and are happy with it, go away- you should be flying right now instead of slamming your fellow enthusiasts on a forum.

Some may disagree with me, but unless they have 15 years of “simming” and 9 years of actual flying like I do then they are likely wrong.
I guess there must be a lot of folks out there that are wrong then ie PMDG, LevelD, ORBX, RealAir etc etcWhistle.gif

Misc-Do_not_feed_the_trolls_2.gifEnjoy your "slider high". I'll enjoy FSX.
