Xplane ?

Featured Replies

Don't wan't to insult anyone, but it's pretty darn stupid that PMDG is ignoring XPlane, as it's the most realistic sim in the world, and IIRC they were supposed to be the most realistic as well. So really, I have no idea where that ignorance is coming from. Maybe it's lack of knowledge and resources?

Well I've flown the 747-400 in X Plane and compared it with PMDG's version in FS9. There was no difference. I wouldn't say X Plane was more realistic.Iain Smith

What makes X-plane the most realistic simulator in the world? I sincerely believe that you are quite ignorant on the issue.

It's not stupid at all. Yes X-Plane is technically more accurate than FSX and yes it is certified by the authorities, but compare the different market for both sims. Why exactly do you think there are not loads of high fidelity aircarft add-ons for X-Plane? It's because the Microsoft Flight Sim series has such a bigger crowd of users.PMDG are here to make money, never forget that (and luckily for us they are also passionate about providing the best simulations). Developing for X-Plane is a whole different game in terms of systems modelling etc and so it would be a huge expense for them without the support of thousands of X-Plane users waiting to buy their next product. However, saying all this, it does make me wonder if people would start shifting over to X-Plane if PMDG starting developing products for that sim. Personally, I have tried the X-Plane demo and didn't get on with it. I blame that on the fact that I'm so used to the Microsoft sims. However, I'm definately going to give the new X-Plane a whirl if a demo becomes available.

The ignorance is coming ... from you. The alleged "superiority" of X-Plane has been discussed on these forums ad nauseam and it was shown to be nothing else than poppycock. No intended insult ...

lolz! Another person drinking the Austin Koolaid... :Big Grin:It really depends on the plane... you'll find a lot of quality payware for both sims... and not so high quality for both.

Hi,I honestly think it is a waste of time doing it for both. The more you do for X-Plane, the more who will buy X-Plane and then the more who will be nagging for you guys to be making them compatible with X-PlaneI just know this will start a discussion.Andrew Cary

Am I the only person that thinks the atmosphere of X-Plane is quite depressing/boring, no AI, Horribly modelled air planes, Grainy textures, Don't even get me started on those 'Ramps' on the runway.

It has a lot of positives but AI traffic and stock airport scenery is not one of them hehe...

It says a lot that Xplane users seem to spend time asking FSX content providers to make things for X-plane ... rather than flying their sim.If you love X-plane, go and enjoy it!For a developer to decide to redo a project to suit X-plane is a lot of work ... and in the end, only they can decide whether that is worth it.That said, I am amused by those who feel the need to come to FSX based forums to expound the virtues of X-Plane 10 (prior to its release).Tribalism is alive and well in the FS community.

Hilarious thread.

How so?When you get the cult-like people that scream XP is superior I just have to laugh! Notice how the FSXers have good things to say about XP - I know I do!

That's exactly how I feel when I see the cult-like people that scream FSX is superior!I have to correct you on 1 thing. It's not ALL FSX'ers who have good things to say about X Plane.

... and yet here you are ... on an FSX based thread. Talking%20Ear%20Off.gif So it would seem that X-plane is a great sim ... with no content .. otherwise Xplane users would be flying their sim, rather than requesting FSX developers to convert their projects.

The way a see it, there's nothing wrong with asking. The sims hava an SDK, aircraft builders can program stuff for FSX or X-Plane or whatever. This is a PMDG forum, not an FSX or FS2004 forum. Yes, PMDG develops for MS sims, but that's exactly why people ask if there's a chance thye'd move to XPlane. The thing is they've anwered this question several times and so far it looks like they won't
