March 10, 201115 yr Author Seasonic boo yah! There's the one you want Really? That's a good one for SB 2600k + GTX480/580 2000mhz ram and an SSD? Ron Hamilton "95% is half the truth, but most of it is lies, but if you read half of what is written, you'll be okay." __ Honey Boo Boo's Mom
March 10, 201115 yr Really? That's a good one for SB 2600k + GTX480/580 2000mhz ram and an SSD?Seasonic makes THE BEST. You could get their X-760 and still have enough power, but for $15 more why not the X-850!EDIT: The Corsair AX PSUs are identical to the Seasonic X PSUs, just a different case and different style cables. I read somewhere that the Corsair AX PSUs are actually the same as the newer Seasonic X-x60 units, not the older Seasonic X-x50 units. And you will notice that the Seasonic X-860 is not yet available. So perhaps it would bet better to go with the Corsair AX850 in this case. Either way you will have an excellent PSU. March 10, 201115 yr Really? That's a good one for SB 2600k + GTX480/580 2000mhz ram and an SSD?Go with the Corsair 850, gtx 580, and don't forget a good water cooler for CPU: Corsair H70.That should do it. MSFS
March 10, 201115 yr Ya man, I am building a SB computer as we speak, I CURRENTLY own the i7 920 and its time to give it away to a poor person.I'm right here man, I reckon I could run to the postage though. Thanks in advance
March 11, 201115 yr Author : Noctua NH-D14 Heat Sink came in today , its huge. Is this thing good enough to keep my SB 2600k clocked at say 4.8 or 4.9 ghz? Ron Hamilton "95% is half the truth, but most of it is lies, but if you read half of what is written, you'll be okay." __ Honey Boo Boo's Mom

Is this thing good enough to keep my SB 2600k clocked at say 4.8 or 4.9 ghz?You got one of the best CPU cooler (air) if not the best, I have one, look at the max temp I got stress testing with OCCT at 4.51GHz nothing over 70C ...and we are talking of a six core here so you should get better temp compare to mine.....and it is huge.Good luck with your new toy......

March 14, 201115 yr http://ncix.com/prod...manufacture=XFXEDIT: Ron, are you going with an Asus P8P67 in the end? does that mean that you know for sure you will not be going SLI?Because if that's the case, there is no way on earth you are ever going to need more than 650W. Even 650W is overkill for a single GPUThe AX corsair series are made by seasonic. That's the same PSU as Seasonic's X850... except they "forgot" to use the same amount of epoxy silicon in the ones they make for Corsair and some suffer from electrical noise.

March 14, 201115 yr I won't say efficency rating is not important at all, but you have to search for serious reviews that put the PSU to the test:XFX 750WCorsair AX850And if you don't mind total modularity and a bit less efficiency, this one is still great and the price is good:Antec Truepower New 650http://www.jonnyguru...Story2&reid=140

March 14, 201115 yr I would seriosuly get that Antec Truepower for just 70$Just did some calculations:If you used it at maximum power (500W) for 6 hours a day every day of the year it would draw 1095KW per year. That would be some 150€ hereThere's a 2% efficency difference more or less between the AX850 and the Antec Truepower, so the extra cost would be about 3€ per year, and that's some ridiculous usage
March 14, 201115 yr Dario is right on. The Truepower series are reliable and so much cheaper. Unless you like having expensive equipment that performs more or less the same as less expensive equipment, go the cheaper route and use the difference to buy something else you want.By no means skimp on the PSU, but I can't see dropping so much dough on one, either. As this forum is for FSX/FS9/XPlane I can't see why some people are using such expensive and high wattage PSU's. Unless you're into multi-GPU setups, I can't see going much over 650W unoess it's a bargain. Those Seasonics are so rediculously priced I can't believe it. That being said if I were rich, I'd buy one... ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
March 14, 201115 yr Author Currently I have a 750 SLI Ready Ultra PSU. Ive been told that it is a piece of crap so I need to buy a new one for the ASUS P8L67 Boards + 2600k. Many people are telling me many different things, Im learing here but I donno who to believe. Im doing my best and readingéwriting all over the forums. To my knowledge I need a modular 850 Watt 80 Gold + PSU in order to overclock my 2600k + Over-clock my GPU and my RAM does that sound right Ron Hamilton "95% is half the truth, but most of it is lies, but if you read half of what is written, you'll be okay." __ Honey Boo Boo's Mom
