are microsoft talking to the industry about flight

The point? Despite all the insistent demands for complete aviation simulator perfection from FLIGHT, the actual product will most certainly require a "hammock"- just as does every piece of software ever created. Never complete & never perfect! Then the cries of "flawed software" will once again reverberate in the forums!AR
Ah, yes. You're right about that. Flight will be what we get. It may not be 100% perfect, but for many, I'm sure it will do just fine. (for others, it will be a failure Big%20Grin.gif)

Remember, some see the glass as half full, and others see it as half empty.... and full of poison.  They drink it anyways... because the believe the world will end in 2012. :(

You just made my day! rolleyes.gif hehehe tongue.gifI think we will be really pleasantly surprised when FLIGHT is released rolleyes.gifAnd I think that MS are talking to developers, because... why wouldn't they?!! I'm sure CaptainSim worked with ACES to help with some aircraft for FSX... so its definitely happened before. I think MS will ask what the developers would want, to make there jobs easier, and Microsoft's. Its reasonable to say (since MS are hungry for £££ and never stop wanting to eat up all that money Tounge.gif just like some of the girls that eat a lot but never put on weight dry.gif) that MS will have something to gain from using the Windows Live Marketplace, probably a share of the profit. But this is to be expected really, I mean, by putting it on Windows Live, they are effectively making it easier for us to buy add-ons and much safer in my eyes. (plus after-all you do have to remember they are Microsoft you know. biggrin.gif)I really hope that MS do implement the WinLive feature, as it would make much more sense than for consumers to have to pay out money to unusual websites, that do look a little suspicious. I also expect to see a much better SDK , we already know the MS FLIGHT Team are working on one, I just hope it will be better than the last, so it will be easier for developers to well... develop, stuff.LMAO.gifJamie ♥

*btw, when using the term 'game' it is an umbrella term, it also includes simulation and racing games, and everything in-between. Do not twist my words.

"A video game is an electronic form of play that involves interaction with a user interface to generate visual feedback on a video device" - the definition of the word "videogame", game is the common shorthand for videogame. Just being clear.

>>>>>People just think that FS is programmed in a week, tested in a day, and released in a few hours.<<<<< Honestly? I think you live in a bubble Jim. Thats so far from the truth its comical. Nathan
What's comical? Or did you not understand the post?

Personally I hope that Flight is the equivalent to Windows 7 like FSX is equivalent to vista for me at least. If Flight was built from the ground up that would be even better, I'm sure you've all seen how many FS.exe's from past versions are in the main FS folder. I'm guessing that if you dug hard enough you would find some of Bruce Artwicks ASM code from the late 70's / early 80's in there. All that bloating code is bound to cause issues.James

James Stephen

all the various FS.exe's included in the main directory are there for backwards compatibility, some installers will only install in a directory if they see the speciifc .EXE they were looking for - none of those .exes is the actual one from that version of the app (in fact, they are all just shells that turn around and execute FSX.EXE). And all the assembler is gone, except for a couple instances of inline assembler in a couple of otherwise C++ functions, so the oldest code that could still be in there is from 1996, and most of that is stuff like parts of the window manager, a few pieces of the panel/gauge system, etc.Tim
