April 13, 201115 yr Really, when you say something like "horses for coarses", you bet you already started the ... vs ... match. If you do not want to start it, then you might as well not post. As I see it, you are calling me coarse for liking FlyTampa sceneries? Sceneries that look good yet are easy on the FPS? Sceneries like Hong Kong which, despite the absurd detail still enables me to get over 25FPS with the PMDG 747?Sorry Benjamin but this is rather agressive and unnecessary.I don't see in Jay's answer any kind of attack against you or anyone here. - PC Hardware: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D // Asus ROG Crosshair X870E HERO // 2x32Gb Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 // ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition // 4Tb Corsair NVMe M.2 MP600 // Corsair 1600W PSU Samsung Odyssey Arc 55" curved 165 Hz monitor. - Simulator Hardware: VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime + VIRPIL VPC Universal Control Panel - #3 + MOZA AY210 Force Feedback Yoke + WINWING URSA MINOR 32 Throttle & PAC Metal + WINWING SKYWALKER Metal Rudder Pedals + WINWING Airbus FCU & EFIS + WINWING Boeing 3N PAP + WINWING MCDU-32 + WINWING PFP-4 + WINWING PFP 3-N + WINWING PFP-7.
April 13, 201115 yr You have the right rigs and FT will run perfectly. On a computer such as mine even the smallest of freeware UK airfields could hit your PC a beat but FT's KBOS scenery runs at 7-10fps. Wonder what'll come out when I run it on an Alienware PC. Dave. April 13, 201115 yr First let me say that I respect all developers. Most attempt to put out a working product for our hobby. With that easy point, comes a little bit of the dark side to our hobby. Any airport should be able sustain 20-24 fps with high to maximum settings. It's very tiring to read praise for products that simply do not work on current high end machines. You should count yourself in this category if you have an i7 @ 4.0+.I thought the point of buying an addon was to get better performance? And yes, complex aircraft do tank your fps but they also provide detailed systems that immerse you in your sim.A complex detailed scenery means nothing if you can't use it with existing complex add on aircraft. All I am stating is that we need a scenery to be just as immersive- but to function for all users. Especially mid to high end users. There's no dark side. If you own the PMDG JS4100 or the 747, you know that performance suffers greatly when you use these awesome aircraft. If someone then tries to fly into dense scenery, or a dense airport, the performance will suffer. What's at fault? Is it the plane? Airport? Complex Scenery? Settings? With FTX airports you can at least lower the settings, until an individual has a computer that can run with maxed settings. I find that commendable. MSFS
April 13, 201115 yr Author Even if you lower addon settings performance does not return to default levels. My point is that any addon scenery should work at minimum levels at 26-30 fps with very dense autogen settings on mid to high end settings with complex aircraft. It can be done! We just need more performance oriented airports...
April 13, 201115 yr It was meant to say 'horses for courses', the automated function of my iPad replaced my word ;)@Benjamin, little bit of a temper there mate, I was not referring to you at all, nor was I referring to anyone in particular, I was merely trying to say that Orbx is going to stay out of the discussion in a 'versus' match.Oh. Well, typo can happen I thought you were calling FlyTampa lovers "coarse", or vulgar. That's how it sounded, anyway... Naturally, I didn't like being called vulgar.David: it was a misunderstanding based on a typo he made, and English being my second language. I'm sorry, but he really did sound offensive to me... All's cleared up now though. April 14, 201115 yr Aha! I had no idea what Jae Kae was saying:http://www.usingenglish.com/reference/idioms/horses+for+courses.htmlIdiom: Horses for coursesIdiom Definitions for 'Horses for courses'Horses for courses means that what is suitable for one person or situation might be unsuitable for another.Just like "To each their own" or "different strokes for different folks".--------------But to reiterate, I have everything FT makes, they get 100% of my support, even for a scenery I may use only once(Grenadines), I think their design principle of making FPS friendly approaches into their airports is to be commended, so I support them.
April 15, 201115 yr Ok my bad, lol forgive me I am Australian and we use some oddities now and then ;)
