Auto Pilot Approach ILS not lining up with runway

Hi,I don't use the AP very much but was working with an ILS approach at KSEA and it is way off. I have installed, UTX , and this was the only addon I thought might have an effect on this but not sure.I really have no other addons that aside from GEX that might have something to do with the runways lat/long position. Any Ideas? RegardsBob

Definately a frequently asked question here...download the FSX registry repair tool ( FSX registry repair tool ) here and run it...it may help solve your problem, which has nothing to do with GEX.

How would the registry repair tool help with ILS?Many ILS approaches, even in real life, are offset a bit and marked so on the approach plate. Also in FS some ILS are located at the opposite end of the runway.Did I mention that the registry has nothing to do with this?

All with PMDG planes, none with the default planes.

Yep, flying the Maule and a couple of carenado GA's and it was off on all of them. I just did a complete reinstall too. Maybe it thinks I am flying into a different airport for some odd reason. I am going to try this again as one thought that crossed my mind was I had about a 20mph crosswind. Wondering if I was just being pushed. I will try again in the morning and check back.Bob

A crosswind component has nothing to do with the accuracy, or lack of, of the localizer beam, Bob. To fix a bad ILS - search out and download Airport Design Editor 9x. When you do - make sure that your version of the FSX SDK is installed on your PC, and that it's the same version as your sim.

I just did not know with the fsx programming if something had been overlooked. I will check further into it, and thank you very much for the advice!! I will get to the bottom of it. All of those planes are ready for their annual anyway so maybe the avionics need to be calibrated :( Bob

A crosswind component has nothing to do with the accuracy, or lack of, of the localizer beam, Bob. To fix a bad ILS - search out and download Airport Design Editor 9x. When you do - make sure that your version of the FSX SDK is installed on your PC, and that it's the same version as your sim.

Not knowing the length of the flight, but did you calibrate your heading indicator before you locked onto the ILS beacon?

Also check you don't have duplicate AFCAD files.I've had similar problems after installing addon airport where I previously had AFCAD for it - could usually tell though by taxiways/grass layouts looking strange.

Heading indicator has nothing to do with tracking an ILS, thats a reference only.

Graham, I will check that thanks.Meshman, I know there is a command for that calibration but have never used it. Even though it was stated from another gentleman that this has nothing to do with the ILS approach, at least in FSX, that is something maybe I should do just for the realism aspect. ThanksBob

Not every approach is going to take you directly straight to the runway, a lot are offset or back course, not every ils is cat3 capable where your airplane follows it to touchdown

Father Bill,yes it is 16L, 163.4 But this should not matter should it, as the ILS is the guiding light? Maybe I am missing how an ILS actually works.Bob
