Flight bag

Featured Replies

Has anyone tried the AvliSoft Electronic Flight Bag?I'm trying the demo now but it seems very conviluted to get working and I still don't have it working. Avsim review was good. However, it wouldn't work in fullscreen mode the manual says.It would be nice to have all charts in order etc. for flight, but it looks like it is more trouble than it's worth. They want $75 USD for it which is a lot just to show charts.Any thoughts? Thanks,BB

Hi!I am trying the demo as well. I am tired of having charts, maps and checklists in paper all over my desk. I considered other EFB programs but all they did was display pdf charts in fsx. If I'm not mistaken, this one generates them. I like the ability to preview sid or star selection. I also like the fact that you can import a route from a fsx flight plan, online route generator, etc and export them to PMDG or FSX format.I have 2 monitors so I display the EFB on my second monitor and I made sure the sim doesn't pause when the FSX window loses focus. Apart from displaying charts and maps it can also be used for checklists and to display METAR info.Sure, 75$ is a lot of money. I recommend to anyone to try the software before buying as all the features are available for 30 days.I don't recall having much trouble with the install and configuration. Takes some time though as there are lots of parameters. What are you having trouble with?

While the investment was steep, I really like and use this product. I did have to run FSX in windowed mode while using Flight Bag on the same computer, but I've sinced networked a laptop. I run Flight Bag on the laptop and FSX in full screen mode on the desktop computer. In addition to what decafspy said, the latest version displays in real time the location, speed, and altitude of AI aircraft and, if you're online with VATSIM or IVAO, the same parameters of other online pilots' aircraft. In other words, it also serves as a kind of TCAS...very cool. Flight Bag also provides lots of other information, such as local transition altitudes (by country), radio frequencies for airports and ATC related to your flight plan, and even parking slots and taxiways at your departure and destination airports...and it can even provide you with a highlighted taxi path, a SmartTaxi capability of a sort. But wait, there's more! Flight Bag will even tune the relevant radio frequency for you during the flight depending on your stage of the flight. A real moving map, too!I could go on and describe the great customer support via the Aivlasoft forum, their commitment to constantly upgrade the program, etc...but I'll stop here with a strong endorsement. It does a whole lot more than simply display charts.

It didn't seem to install properly. Installation said it need a special enhanced version of NavAir Air and it was not installed. And software is very twitchy, I don't have alot of time or patience to spend hours and hours getting it working.FYI: Anyone can buy expired REAL Jeppessen Regional Express Packs for $15 (Including approach plates and Enroute Low-IFR charts). These are exactly what I used for my IFR rating, though they were obviously current.http://www.mypilotstore.com/mypilotstore/sep/2755p.s They have expired sectionals too.Cheers

Those Jepps are exactly what I use for simming now...the expired ones from MyPilotStore! I would highly recommend them, as they are as realistic as possible (the same exact charts airline pilots use), and you never have to worry about printing out approach plates for most flights! I've got almost the entire United States worth of Jeppesen Charts just from buying these expired packs.

I would buy it if I were you.The software is goooood.Aivlasoft offers very good support on top of that. You can't go wrong.

Would it work on iPad? I can't see any reference to Apple OS in their installation guide...

Considering that you get info for any airport around the globe with info that can be updated monthly through Navigraph the price is imo low. It might not have the details of a Jepp chart but for my simming needs (especially the SID/STAR view and selection) what is displayed is more than enough.
