April 17, 201115 yr How high do they fly this bird? was flying on vatsim the other day like i always do.Took it up to 25 thou. and had to ask atc to get me lower and went back down to 15 thou. cause at 25,000ft. the ITT gauge was basically red line and i had to keep my torgue down to a point where my speed was quite low . Took it back down and all was well .Not complaining , just asking. Louis Massicotte Caroline Alberta
April 17, 201115 yr I fly mine at FL230-FL240, props set at 1800 and torque at about 850-950 or so. I get about 180-190 indicated (250 or so knots true airspeed). I don't know what my ITT is, but it never over the red. Devin CYOW

I have seen that causing a problem with other aircraft - so I would think that it could well cause your issues with the Duke !!G Gary Davies aka "Gazzareth" Simming since 747 on the Acorn Electron
April 17, 201115 yr Remember though, you're indicated airspeed will appear low but your True Air Speed will increase with altitude. If you can't display TAS, then check your ground speed, it should be higher at altitude. Then again, if the winds reverse direction, you may have been better off at 15k anyway. I usually get around 280-290 TAS up in the lower flight levels. Then again I run everything hot ;) | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
April 17, 201115 yr Author I'll try this all out boys cause it all makes sense, and i kinda forgot about the air speed in the higher elavations --Thanks. Louis Massicotte Caroline Alberta
April 17, 201115 yr FL250 shouldn´t be a problem for the Turbine Duke. I´ve flown her recently this high with zero problems. No ITT over red line or something else. Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
April 17, 201115 yr You're probably not using the fuel vents properly. Open then halfway on climb and fully on cruise.
April 18, 201115 yr Author You're probably not using the fuel vents properly. Open then halfway on climb and fully on cruise. Umm maybe that's it, i was halve in climb and in cruise also ok good Louis Massicotte Caroline Alberta
April 18, 201115 yr You mean open them fully in the climb and half way in the cruise, you should be using far less power in the cruise so no need to have them fully open then. Cheers, Andy.
April 18, 201115 yr You're probably not using the fuel vents properly. Open then halfway on climb and fully on cruise.Just so there's no confusion, I think you meant to say the Oil Door door switches. Those are the 3-position switches thathelp you maintain proper oil temperatures for a given power setting. The fuel vent switches are actually heaters for the fuel vent system and they are either on or off.Remember, though, that the OP's original question was with regards to ITT and neither of these switches has a directeffect on ITT. Controlling you ITT's is a function of throttle control. AMD 7800X3D, RTX 4090, 42" LG C3 OLED 4K TV/Monitor
April 18, 201115 yr Author Well smart guys i found my problem, gotta pay more attention to my outside temp. I took off straight up cause you know how this thing goes hell bent for election :( up to 25 thou. in fair weather the fsx weather, then i hit the vatsim weather and when it kicked in the temp went to -2 c and the ITT almost red lined. Now when i set the throttles in the Beech 18 by Milton Shupe and the Seneca by Carenado the throttles are so nice but for some reason these turbo props, man there sensitive almost to a point of it's madning.I'm running presicion flight controls and for some reason it just seems to be the turbos' god you can barely touch them their so sensitive. Thanks for every thing - i learnt a few things . Never had the problem since I started using ASE !!G Gary Davies aka "Gazzareth" Simming since 747 on the Acorn Electron
