April 22, 201115 yr Author Wow, didn't know hulu was US only. Try this...http://theaviators.tv/I can't get to it from where I'm at (work). :( They may have it there too. I'm sure there are a couple places you can find it. It's about Westjet. A Canadian airline. It would be a shame if Canada couldn't watch a documentary about one of their own... Chuck Biggins

April 22, 201115 yr Hey All! My first post, Ive been reading this forum for some good time now but have never posted!Just wanted to comment on the YouTube clip that was posted and watching that both pilots had to help with grooming the cabin. That there goes in line with what Capt Sully's was saying on Bill Maher's show. Pretty sad really Chris Maher ------------------------------------------ i7 6700k OC @ 4.6Ghz 16Gb 3200Mhz Corsair Ram Evga GTX 1080 FTW GPU

That there goes in line with what Capt Sully's was saying on Bill Maher's show. Pretty sad reallyWestJet works together as a whole to achieve a common goal, every employee traveling non rev has to help groom the cabin upon arrival, this includes frontline staff, office staff, management, executives, communting crew members, including the active crew, as lets be honest the IRS align takes 10 minutes and the pilots dont have dispatching paper work untill about 10-15 minutes after arrival. Meaning that there isnt much they can do for a good 10-15 minutes after arrival anyways. Figures ran years ago when Westjet was much smaller, less staff, aircraft, and destinations, showed that this is a very large cost saving process, with the figure being 4-6 million dollars saved in a year. WestJet was about half the size it is now so im sure that figure is alot larger now. Having 6 crew members and a crowd of non rev employees help clean the aircraft between turn arounds is quicker then a standard 3-4 person 3rd party contracted cabin grooming staff that you have to pay for. Quality of the job done is higher as well as the old saying goes, if you want something done right, you'll do it yourself. WestJet is a profit sharing company and now with company wide performance benifits so its every employees best interest to keep the company profitable. April 23, 201115 yr I liked the cockpit videos on the Westjet 737-700NG DVD from justplanes.com (World Air Routes) I acquired a couple of years ago. As I recall operations and company organization were given in an overview.

April 24, 201115 yr Welcome Chris, There might be a slight difference in that employees are part owners in Westjet.Oh I mean, yeah what Shane said LOL.... missed that part.Shane, I have often wondered how flight ops keeps everything so organized, do you ever find yourself wanting to pull your hair out?Robert, problems do tend to have a snowball effect but we get a endless supply of tools and support to do our job. Having real time operational information is necessary to keep focused on how the airline is performing and proactive to problems that may arise to keep the airline running smoothly. Awareness of up-to-date airline operations information, among the groups residing in the OCC area, is critical. It would be a lie if I didnt tell you there have been a few days I wanted to pull my hair out, but we have a great people in those groups, we seem to always pull through in the clutch situations :)Cheers Shane Walker CYYC - CARS 705 Flight Dispatcher I7-2600K @ 3.4GHZ - 8GB RAM - GTX10606GB - W10 - P3DV4.1 - ACTIVESKY - REX4 + SOFT CLOUDS - EZCA2 - ORBX - FLIGHTBEAM - FSDREAMTEAM -FLYTAMPA - SIMADDONS - AEROSOFT CRJ - PMDG -737/777/747 - TOPCAT + PFPX
