Well, for what its worth, I have Megascenery X Southern California, which is LA, Palm Springs and that area, up to San Bernadino, and south to San Diego, and it is pretty sweet. Nice looking mountains, updates the airports a bit using default buildings and that stuff. I recommend it, the SO cal one at least, the only one I can speak about from experience.

Kaman-I think Ryan simply meant: You'll get a wider range of responses in the main forum. We don't have any trouble with you asking that question of fellow PMDG customers... No worries.FWIW: I have the Megascenery Earth products installed for all of California and I find them to be reasonably good. OrbX's scenery products are significantly better because they are more than just a photoscenery overlay- but the Megascenery isn't bad at all.Just make certain you purchase products designed for FSX...

Hi all,I'm really tempted with the Megascenery X products serie ; Las Vegas, Hawai, Phoenix etc.... But before proceeding to the purchase step i would like to hear your opinions about those products: So do you recommend it or not. Thanks.Kaman BA
Yes, I think they are great and have all of them except Hawaii.I am lucky because I have lived in SoCal, Phoenix, and now Dallas, so when I fly those areas its really cool to have good photoscenery. Plus the night textures for all of them are really good as well. You can also probably get pretty good deals on those since I see them on sale at PC Aviator all the time for as low as $5.I will caution though, be careful with the MegaScenery Earth stuff since its pretty hit or mis quality wise. The southern AZ stuff, Washington, and NYC are not bad, but the Florida is horrible. If you end up trying any of that stuff, just buy one tile for the area your interested in for $7 and try it before you invest in more so you dont waste to much money if its rotten.Sean Campbell

I for one really enjoy megascenery products. They are not as high resolution as some other custom tile products, but they are very nice, and if you happen to live in an area that they create, it's a lot of fun to pick out places that you recognize.I have megascenery Las Vegas, Hawaii, and a good part of New York (where I'm from). One of my favorite airports to depart from is KSWF Newburgh, NY, and with Megascenery installed it's quite nice. One thing you should know is that the city packs they offer are relatively small, so if you're flying an airplane like the NG, you'll be out of it in less than 4 minutes (Hawaii is great though since it's relatively small anyway and surrounded by water). If you are flying heavies, I'd go for Megascenery Earth tiles: You can buy large expanses of scenery and you can actually hop city to city.Anyway.. here's a Delta flight out of KLAS Las Vegas using megascenery... you be the judge :)PMDG_737NGX_Delta_Avsim.jpg

I have had and used both mega scenery, and PNW by ORBX, both had screwed up my computer, had to reinstall FSX but you can try it out personaly I would NOT.

With all due respect to unnamed user Sonic5, he has a history of CTD's.If you know what you are doing, layer sceneries correctly, and make sure to be vigilant of multiple ADE's/AFCAD's in your FSX, none of those products should cause you any problems when used correctly and set up according to the documented directions.Personally, I have been using MegaScenery, MegaScenery Earth, and ORBX all at the same time and haven't had any issues, as well as all the other addons in my sig. Generally problems with CTD's usually, not always, but most of the time come down to an end users problem with an improperly configured operating system, overclock, FSX, addons, or any combination of the above.
Thanks Roberts, thanks Vin and Ryan but i still can make up my mind on this.
Obviously no one can make your mind up for you on those products and the PMDG guys arent going to try and sell you on someone elses work. If they are areas that you fly often and want an accurate photoreal coverage for the area that includes pretty good night textures then go for it. If not, think about it for a while or skip it all together. I like them since most of them are places that I have actually lived in or visit frequently so I like a real world depiction of them. However, had that not been the case I probably wouldn't have purchased. There are a lot of photoreal packages I usually skip since they hold no special value to me and/or dont include night textures.Good luck whatever you decide.Sean Campbell
