May 25, 201115 yr First of all I wouild like to upgrade my system. MY specs are as follows windows 7 64bit i975 extreme running at a solid 4.0ghz cna't get it any higher otherwise get the glue screen. I have tried at 4.1 and 4.2 just is not stable only at 4.0. fsx on its own separate drive, 2 velcoraptors Operating system on its own dirve, gtx 285, 6 gb memory running at 9,9,9. My temps are in the upper 50's for all 4 cores running at fsx. I get a few stutters but nividia inspector helps out quite a bit, and also uses Nicks tid bits as well. Also have a 1,000 watts of power. Now this my diilema I was thinksing of the 2600kl but its a pain in the neck to reinstall everything or if I went to a gtx 570or 560 would that help out smooth things. May 25, 201115 yr CPU-upgrade will demand a new mobo and ram, unless you leave out one of the sticks (wouldn't count on buying one additional stick that hasn't been tested along with the others). So, could get pricy...Heard good things about the gtx 570, could most likely improve things over the everso legendary 285. If you clone your fsx onto an SSD you could experience improvement also.Is your PSU a quality brand or "no-name"? A cheap PSU may cause instability in overclocking. Run OCCT standard stress test and look at the 5V line, would be too low. May 25, 201115 yr Your i975 can do a lot better on air with a good CPU cooler (4.2 > 4.4GHz easy).Before upgrading why don't you post all your hardware and settings including your temp at idle and full load, we may be able to get you higher on your overclock, cheaper to try this compare to upgrading.If you can take some pics of your bios with all settings, easyer for us to see what you'r at.

For some reason cannot get higher than 4.0 or then see bsod. would speeding up memory help out I have an evga x58 nmotherboard sli. Just that putting all these addons that I have woould give me a lot of headaches if you know what I mean

Just that putting all these addons that I have woould give me a lot of headaches if you know what I meanYou will not get to 4.6GHz with your i7 975 without water cooling + high CPU core voltage.A better card will not hurt BUT you'll get more bang for your buck with your CPU at 4.4GHz.Without knowing what are your settings (CPU core voltage, QPI/VTT voltage, BCLK , rams speed, +++) we can't help you reaching higher GHz.We will need a lot of info from you to help you overclock your CPU over 4.0GHz.

May 25, 201115 yr Author I use 14 for affinity mask realy did not notice much of a change with 15. When I say stutters I mean at the heavy duty airports jfk lax kmia etc. otherwise if I was flying out of Des Moines Iowa just as an example no problem.

Are you aware of that?

To make sure you can:1.- Start -> Run -> msinfo32there: Components -> Storage -> DisksFind your SSD and "Partition Starting Offset" should be 1,048,576 bytes, or a multiple of 4096or2.- Download AS SSD. This pic is in german (or at least I think so) notice the green text that reads 103424 K - OKgreen = ok, red = misaligned
