July 25, 201114 yr - 169,95 dollars on the official TrackIR websiteDon't know regarding shipping, but I think that's cheaper. Lukas "TIN TIN -=9th Shrek=-" Mathijsen
July 25, 201114 yr Anyone who buys it, be sure to download the "Seth flight" profile. It's a good starting point for fine-tuning your own. Kenneth Weir My Saitek yoke mod i7 2600k @ 4.7 8GB Gskill CAS7 2x GTX580 SLI Surround + GT520 Accessory Win7x64
July 25, 201114 yr It may be infrared, but you can pretend you're landing the plane while a guy on the ground is shining a laser pointer at you. :( Ron Priever
July 25, 201114 yr Gentlemen,I had TrackIR 4, mine broke down after 2 years of constantly using it. TrackIR has changed my flying experience, it was a pain to get used to flying without it. And now, that i see the NGX being in preperation to be rolled out of the hangar, i think i will get myself a new TrackIR. I have never had TrackIR 5, since it wasn't out back then. I used TrackIR 4 and will most likely buy the 4 version again, it did well enough. I recommend you to get it if you got the budget, it costs, but it increases your flying experience.I am the kind of person who feels bad when he spends much money on something and realizes that he really didn't need it afterwards. I totally forgot about the money when i received my TrackIR. It was, AWESOME. It took about 2-3 flights to get used to it, and after that, i couldn't LEAVE it anymore.Just my 2 cents. A. O. July 25, 201114 yr @ shamrock727,Do you mean the way FSX simulates G loading? you can turn that off, much better then.If that's not what you meant then disregard but it may be useful for TIR newbiesDan.
July 25, 201114 yr Excellent Steve! The first few days you will curse at it, but once you get used to it, DAYUM! Lukas "TIN TIN -=9th Shrek=-" Mathijsen
July 25, 201114 yr Author I'll have to remember to take it off my head when i come away from the computer, otherwise i'll be nipping toilet with it or going bed lol
July 25, 201114 yr Honestly I rarely use my TrackIR 5 for airliner stuff. I do use it very often, though. Like when I'm GA flying or busting tanks in DCS A-10C.Some folks take longer to get used to it. Some never do and allow it to collect dust. I, for one, instantly fell in love with it. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
July 25, 201114 yr I've had the TrackIr 4 for the last 4 years. Got it when it came out, never looked back. Works flawlessly. I can't imagine flying without it, and all the usual stuff you would hear. I still haven't got the track clip pro, just because I'm happy enough with the hat, and I don't want any more wires running down from my head. With a nice comfortable hat that can breathe- its very good.It does take getting used to, especially if you have EZCA. The bit that took me a while to adjust when using the MCP while flying with turbulence and so on.Btw, I have CAT 1 Medical and perfect vision, no glasses or anything. 4 years of TrackIR- there's your study.
July 25, 201114 yr Yeah sorry guy about saying that thing about lasers. So basically the only ir lights are the leds and the camera tracks them? Yeah guys sorry once again i should do a little more research next time. :( Dmitriy Kotov If it is not IFR conditions it is not fun.
July 25, 201114 yr I got trackir 3 a couple of years ago, and although it's brilliant, it does take some getting used to. I always struggled with sensitivity of it. You want it to be responsive enough when you pan around, without lag. But then it comes to leaning over to click some switch, you suddenly realise how sensitive the slightest head movement can be.It can be irritating at first, learning to keep your head still, whilst trying to mouse click. There is an option to pause the camera with a key press. What does the pro clip thing do? And do you think it'll work with the old v3 model? Andy Knight

July 25, 201114 yr I also use it for airline stuff, but often pause it when inputting stuff into the FMC or generally operating something in the cockpit. Still, it is quite useful for landing, and in a way makes your screen seem "bigger", due to the fact that you can quickly look at angles that would normally be out of view without even realizing it!
