I would recommend it 100%. Never use FS without it and i USED to be a die yard 2D fan. As for the infrared lights? Mine cam with the hat clip and the infrared lights that clips to your headset. I uset the hat clip. If you can afford it but you DONT get it you are denying yourself the full benefit of this NGX IMHO. AND its good for many other games.JackColwill

By infrared i meant the camera itself with track ir releases infrared lights at 850nm and there have been no study on the reaction on infrared on eyes for prolong periods on time. This is all speculation on my part and i believe track ir is an amazing product but the idea of a laser shining at my head for hours unnerves me.

It's not a laser...those should be infrared LEDs.I've got a TIR5 with the Trackclip Pro and I absolutely recommend it to anyone enjoying fligth sims. It's quite expensive, but definitively worth it!

There's no laser. Just some red LED's that also emit some IR. You'll get far more exposure from looking at your monitor than those things are putting out.IR is every bit as harmful/harmless as visible light.

I 110% recommend TrackIR!!! It will CHANGE your flying!

Yeah well im not to bothered about the dollar at the moment but i am reading all about the new TrackIR 5, looks and sounds great m8, i think im going to buy one ready for my NGX

I have Track IR 5 which I use with Ezdok and I think the two work out just perfect! but I have one issue... still and that's the viewpoint issue .As in you still move around the cockpit while turning the aircraft without me moving anything If you know what I mean?!?!

SERIOUSLY ! Get it. It is THE best device after a joystick you'll ever own, I don't know how I ever lived without it. If you ever play combat Sims (DCS, RoF,Falcon etc) it will transform the way you play and suddenly everything is "3D".I have the Track clip pro Track IR 4 with version 5 software - brilliant.You wont regret it I promise you that.Dan.

Track IR5 + Track Clip Pro combo is an absolute must. As far as I know, there aren't any "lasers" pointed at your head at any time. My Track Clip Pro has active IR LED's that point towards the TIR Camera mounted on top of my LCD Display. This is what I use and never fly without it. It's got a slight learning curve but once figured out absolutely essential for FSX VC immersion. I cannot stress enough to get the Track Clip Pro as it's active and adjustable and clips onto most headsets. No need for a hat.Knowing what I know about the TIR5 + TCP combo + FSX, I would buy it even if I could only use it on the NGX and nothing else. haha.
