July 31, 201114 yr That's a no brainer. The 2600k is faster, cheaper, cooler, and overclocking is a breeze. Why do you need two 580s? In almost every case, the two cards in SLI will hurt FSX performance. I really feel this one should be in the hardware forums. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
July 31, 201114 yr Ok, 1 580 then :) Thanks gents! Search the hardware forum on avsim; this has been discussed over and over there from your cpu to your gpu questions...12 gb or ram is a waste of money for fsx.. Simon
July 31, 201114 yr Before buying new PC maybe try OCing that CPU which you have now to 4.0GHz, you might get surprised ;) Regards,
July 31, 201114 yr Awesome looking signature Marc! Can I also use it? Yours trulyBoaz FraizerCopenhagen, Denmark
July 31, 201114 yr Author I do not mind, can use it but then if PMDG ask to remove it, please remove it and respect their wishes. Marc M.
July 31, 201114 yr Don't get two GTX580 if it's for a single monitor. I've gotten a second GTX480 to see what SLI can do with high antialiasing and the results are very disappointing. It works in spot view, and in the virtual cockpit when in DX10 mode, but in DX9 it doesn't work in the virtual cockpit if the plane has 3D gauges. It only seems to works in the cefault cessna, trike and stuff like thatWhat could there be in 3D gauges + DX9 that prevents both cards working at more than 50% of their capabilities? So tu sum it up: -AA is broken in DX10-In DX9 SLI doesn't work in the VC if there are 3D gauges. Both cards pegged at 50% deliver the power of a single GPU Conclusion: completely useless. You can't get better frames with normal AA since you're CPU limited and you can't get better visuals increasing AA At least that's my experience, if someone else has had success with it, I don't know
July 31, 201114 yr An I5 2500K will be just as good8GB of RAMA P67 or Z68 board (if you already have a case, make sure it fits in it. should be able to fit ATX boards)A good CPU coolerOverclock the CPU to 4.5+ GHz... aply Bojotes tweaks... and enjoy :)
July 31, 201114 yr I think an I7 2600k and one 570 (580 for first person shooters and really new games) with 6GB Ram would be more than enough for fsx.But I think even the 570 would be overkill for fsx. And if you dont overclock both pcs I dont think you will see that much difference ... maybe instead of 20-30 in KSEA you will have 25-35 with the new pc ? (REX, ORBX and PMDG VC) P.L. TranAMD Ryzen 5800x; 32 GB Ram; EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 FTW3; Win10 64 Bit
July 31, 201114 yr Author Ok, think I will keep the 12GB ram, the i7, got the cooler and case, WON'T overclock the CPU and that Bojotes doesn't work for me :) Marc M.

(REX, ORBX and PMDG VC) I agree on the 580 and probably even the 570 being overkill for FSX. A GTX560 would do just fine. Ok, think I will keep the 12GB ram, the i7, got the cooler and case, WON'T overclock the CPU and that Bojotes doesn't work for me :) Guys, do a search in the forums for the 2500K vs 2600K thingAnd 12GB is a massive waste, not only that, these systems work in dual channel memory, and it's better to use 2 or 4 RAM sticks, not 3. Go with 2x4GB for a total of 8GB. Even 4GB is enough 99% of the time You won't be overclocking? in that case pick an I5 2500 (non K) and a H67 board
