August 5, 201114 yr Having a similar issue. Got a ".cfg file is read only" error the first time I ran the livery manager. I'll try changing the file properties manually. Lee Barber - Rochester, NY PPL-G
August 5, 201114 yr Bruce...........Tried Ryan's suggestions but no change. Seems to me a "solution" would be to correct the known problem(s) that Ryan outlined with the livery manager as quickly as possible. I know the PMDG folks are up to their "gazoo" at the moment, but this is apparently a big problem with quite a few customers. In the meantime, I give up for the moment and hope that a practical solution isn't too far away. I'll just stare at the water and sand here on PEI. Jack Fentress
August 5, 201114 yr the aircraft.cfg file is that brown color file at the very bottom of the window. RIght-click it and uncheck read only, it worked for me I now can load up the -900 and -900WL liveries. Ian Paxton The lights are dimming on FSX and only getting brighter for XPX.

Jack FentressI say any issues with adding a paint to an aircraft are way at the bottom of the list. If the aircraft flies then fly it and worry about the paints another day.
August 5, 201114 yr Graham........Can't disagree with that. Just tired for the moment. Downloading and installation went like a breeze. No difficulties arose. Did a take off and flew around for a while. What an aircraft. Absolutely wonderful. But, having said that, I do hope the installer does get corrected soon. Jack

August 5, 201114 yr Hey everyone, Not an urgent issue as far as things go but still worth posting. My livery manager will only let me install one livery - as in, I can only have one livery installed. If I install, say, the AirBerlin livery, that works, and works fine. If I then try to install the AA livery, it overwrites the AirBerlin liv (different file names, I checked) and leaves me with only the AA liv. If I then try to re-install the AirBerlin liv it tells me it's already installed and I'll need to rename the file - the new file overwrites the AA file again! Sometimes they overwrite themselves leaving me with no liveries. Nope it's not just these two airlines, it's any livery. Thanks & what a fantastic product the 737NGX is - just took her for a fantastic little spin!Yes I get the same thing I have followed the instructions from the manual, same thing there is a bug somewhere. August 5, 201114 yr Hi folks, first of all...i really luuuuuuv this plane, but as many i have some problems with the Livery manager.....read the instructions...pressed the button "Select livery to install", but nothing happend it should be giving you a window to search to these .ptp files......hopefully this will be fixed... Best regards, Ray
August 5, 201114 yr Well after a number of attempts I found a way to get the livery manager to work... 1. I created a folder for each model type so 800WL for the 800 Winglet paints.2. Extract and copy all the 800WL .ptp files into the above folder.3. Set the "read only" protection tick-box for the aircraft.cfg to unticked.4. Located the Livery Manager directly in the FSX folder structure.5. Right click the Livery Manager and selected the option to "run as administrator"6. High lighted the option 800NGX WL and click the "select livery to install button" Right now here comes what I think may be quite an important factor as this seemed to be the crucial point to get this to work... 7. Hold down the ctrl keyboard button and select each of the .ptp livery files in turn. NOTE: Selecting the first livery file, holding shift and then selecting the last file to select all the files does apparently not seem to work! 8. Finally select the "Open" button and the livery manager should install the liveries and populate the "Installed Liveries" list with the installed paints. Just as a note... I first achieved this with the 900 WL paints. I then tried to install the 800 WL paints, but the difference being that for the 900 WL paints I used the CTRL key and selected each file in turn, but with the 800 WL files I tried using the shift key - this is when I found it seems using the shift key does not work! When I found this I quit the livery manager, deleted all the additional 800 WL texture folders manually before running the Livery Manager again (as Admin) and the installed the Liveries using the CTRL key method. If you try the above and find it works for you please do post back here to confirm this is the case so other people will know how to work around the problem. ;) Paul Lathwell
August 5, 201114 yr Hi I can´use the Buttom "Select Livery to Install" nothing happens! No windwo, nothing.... The NGX is a dream, but I like to fly with a Livery ;) Kind RegadsSteffen Lutz
August 5, 201114 yr Hello! Same problem as above nothing happens, when I use the "Select Livery to Install" button.Running it with administrator rights makes no difference.(PMDG Livery Manager v1.03, Windows 7 64 bit) RegardsG. Kollmann
August 5, 201114 yr Youe need to select (click on to high-light) one of the four options under "Installed Aircraft Variants" for the "Select Livery Button" to work... please try that and post back. Paul Lathwell
August 5, 201114 yr Well, all of the "solutions" still escape the point that the livery is flawed. Even Ryan admitted that earlier today. So all of the "solutions" really do nothing to really correct the problem. I'm sure that the folks at PMDG have finally gotten the point that this is a large problem for many, many customers despite some of their "testers" comments to just fly and don't worry about liveries. I'm not normally this "verbal" about problems but after 3 years of development, this seems to one of those things that should have be detected long before release. Jack Fentress
August 5, 201114 yr Jack, I have only posted how I managed to get the liveries to install for me so other who are keen to install additional liveries can give it a shot. I'm not suggesting there is not a problem with the Livery Manager but the above worked for me. :) Paul Lathwell
August 5, 201114 yr Oh no. I wasn't being critical of you or your response at all. I was just trying to "highlight" the fact that there still needs to be an official PMDG fix for this and I'm pretty sure they are working on it. Jack Fentress
