August 5, 201114 yr Never been one to do the autoland thing but I wanted to try it tonight and I cannot seem to get it to work when I press the B , the A + B are lit together for 2 seconds and then B stays lit and A goes off, and vice versa, does anyone have an idea where to find more information in the manual because I cannot find much about the autoland feature in there. Maybe someone has a 'quick and dirty' tutorial for it ?
August 5, 201114 yr I have not got my NGX yet so this is just a shot in the dark but are both NAV units tuned to the ils freq?
August 5, 201114 yr According to Project Magenta, for a full CATIII you need the following: Both FD ONBoth NAV 1 & 2 tuned to the ILS frequencyBoth AP A & B on

August 5, 201114 yr HI Jay,Off the top of my head and Ive not install the NGX yet but,Dont you have to have AP on ofcVNAV and LNAV not 100% sure you "need" them on Both FD ONLOC alive first<< you need APP or GS alive. Well showing "LOC alive"For me when APP is alive/showing I press APPThen ALL AP ON Just of my head, sorry I could well be wrong. AL are fun :) David Murden. August 5, 201114 yr Both Nav tuned to the ILS and above 800'. You don't have to be in LNAV, don't have to be captured in APP or have the G/S. At the last airline the setup was like this: NAVs tuned and ID'dOn intercept headingLOC & G/S displayed (not alive, just displayed)Cleared for approachAPPROACH MODE ARM <-------- This before 2nd autopilot, or it'll just flip back and forth2nd autopilot engage Matt Cee
August 5, 201114 yr I thing Jay just needs APP on before he press's APx2 :) David Murden. August 5, 201114 yr Ryanair Fcom Vol2 !! Automatic Flight Approach and LandingThe AFDS provides guidance for single A/P non–precision approaches. TheVOR/LOC switch arms the AFDS for VOR or localizer tracking. Descent may beaccomplished using VNAV, LVL CHG, or V/S. VOR/LOC, LNAV, or HDG SELmay be used for the roll mode. The AFDS provides guidance for single or dual A/P precision approaches. Theapproach mode arms the AFDS to capture and track the localizer and glideslope.Approach (APP) Mode Dual A/PsApproach mode allows both A/Ps to be engaged at the same time. Dual A/Poperation provides fail–passive operation through landing flare and touchdown oran automatic go–around. During fail passive operation, the flight controls respondto the A/P commanding the lesser control movement. If a failure occurs in oneA/P, the failed channel is counteracted by the second channel such that both A/Psdisconnect with minimal airplane maneuvering and with aural and visualwarnings to the pilot. One VHF NAV receiver must be tuned to an ILS frequency before the approachmode can be selected. For a dual A/P approach, the second VHF NAV receivermust be tuned to the ILS frequency and the corresponding A/P engaged in CMDprior to 800 feet RA. Frederic Steiner.
August 6, 201114 yr I've made multiple ILS approches and i don't understand!i succeed in arming A and B cmd but i never have LAND3 the info still CMD Flare is ok and go green ...A and B cmb stay armed till the touchdown. The plane land alone without problem but i think i'm wrong with this ! if you can help me!i've searched and found a long info on FCOM V2 but i haven't found what i'm doing wrong! thanks Benard DEVEAUTOUR pmdg's 747 and 737 ngx fan!

August 6, 201114 yr When I did it, I had both navs tuned to the ILS, both courses tuned to the ILS approach course, I pressed VOR LOC on the MCP to capture the localizer, then when I was established on the localizer I pressed APP to arm G/S. Once the G/S was captured and I was configured for landing, I armed CMD B and then armed AIII for the HUD. Pulled down the HUD and watched the aircarft fly down the glidslope, with the LAND 3 and all the other annunciations expected.
