VIOLENTJERKING WHEN ENGAGEING HEADING SWITCH

Recommended Posts

Yes, I have this too. Didn't realise this until now as I haven't tried to turn like that before. Very apparent when using HDG select for large turn. Hopefully, will get sorted.

I attempted to make a video... but it doesn't really portray what I'm seeing when playing in game (it's more jerky than what the vid shows). Obviously I wouldn't go back and forth between LNAV and heading mode but I repeated it over and over to show the issue.
Brilliant! Applause.gif That shows whats happening precisely. The initial violent jerking seems to defy the laws of physics.

It should never ever do that. Roll rate is controlled. Experiencing stutters etc when this happens ?
Are you able to recreate this emvaos?

just want to add if i want to turn to the left the plane seems to start a turn to the right then quickly switches to a left turn if you look closely you can see it in the youtube video

thank you,Jim

Yep. I have this too. Simple HDG on MCP, without any FMC, just after initial load, take off, HDG change, it has quite a hard jolt or kick. Whatever you can call it.

Same here, I can live with it for everything else I get with the whole package.

I have this same problem. I have a very high end system, so stutters aren't the problem. It will just do a violent rock to the opposite side of the turn, then turn.

Yes but hopefully its a simple fix for SP1. The "jolt" is a tiny bit disappointing considering how perfect the rest of the sim is. I'm spoiled by the LDS 767 which never jolts when changing heading/engaging LNAV, its very smooth. Btw I notice this jolting in the PMDG MD11 and 747 too, did the same guy write the AP logic for all these aircraft? Please fix this jolting to make the NGX even better. Praying.gif

Yes I have noticed this. While in LNAV on a 40' intercept heading to the ILS with the APP button engaged, the moment the VOR/LOC engaged, there was a very fast sudden abrupt roll to catch and follow it.It was a total WoW moment because the rest of the time it was rolling smooth. Seems to effect large angled LNAV intercept tracks.

Add my name to the list. I have this under the same conditions as everyone else has stated.

I just watched the demo "drag management" video that PMDG's own beta tester Jack Colwill made, which is pinned at the top of this forum. At the moment of localizer capture, his aircraft did the very same thing - made a sudden, abrupt roll to the right. After a couple of seconds, the bank rate smoothed right out, but that initial roll was anything but smooth or subtle.

Add me to the list, I usually had to set my current HDG before engaing HDG Mode then turn to Selected HDG, defently jerks the plane, its not a performance/studder problem.
