Yes... another NGX comparison - NGX - vrs LVD 767

Guys, it's not *possible* that some have it and some don't. The thing is FSX-dependant, and is in every FSX.There are only reasons why you are avoiding it. Limited frames. Another aircraft etc...You have it, like everyone else.

Are you using limited frames?
I use limited frames in the air (internal limiter). UnLimited frames when approaching big airports and with heavy weather.

I mostly use the pmdgs and I never had that problem. I never had that problem also when I had the late ifly737 installed, You say we all have it ? Not sure.Maybe I always had it but I never noticed it ? Vic

Well, here's the reason why you see now framerate drop.I suggest following:Windowed mode, limit to 60fps internally, load the NGX or the equivalent hardframe aircraft, perferrably VC, see that you get less than 60fps, probably won't be hard, load FRAPS, and then slide the mouse over the FSX window and back out, making a steady reading each time. You'll see it's there. Around 20-25% drop when mouse is over the FSX window.

I always got worse frames/s in windowed mode unless unlimited. So I stay away from it. Thanks anyway :-)

No problem. It has the same effect in full screen, only you must wait until cursor disappears. You can test it anytime.

Well gentleman use in full screen the alt key (gives the semi FSX transparent menu bar) and place the mouse on the right corner that will minimize this FSX bug ;-)

Quite correct. A way to prevent it. But hardly a solution, since when flying night, you have a blue bar ontop of your screen... even over day its disturbing!

Word Not Allowed maybe for you not for everyone but you can also reduce the effect a lot with a view changes in settings, but it's a FSX bug ;-)

Both perform the same for me which is great bearing in mind the 767 is quite old now. Its still my all time favourite aircraft and so I am very pleased that the 737 does not affect performance on my rig. Set the wideviewaspect=true back to false and set up some ezdok cams though as the cockpit view was too far back for.me to read the displays properly. As an addition to this my MD11 is so much more viewable now without me having to pop up the displays or zoom in.

Can't do it properly without wideviewaspect.WVA is basically 0.6 zoom. So either use that or zoom out to 0.3 or so. Same effect.Suggest this: load up with false, zoom out 0.6, take a shot, load up with true, zoom 1.0, take a shot. You'll see they are same.

I get somewhat better FPS with the 767 at major hubs, but the NGX is definately smoother for me. Simming for me, is much more about smoothness than FPS (though I understand there are limits to this). BUT, if you look at what you get in the NGX, it seems a bit like trying to compare apples and oranges. The NGX is, without doubt, THE addon of addons. Personally, I think it's a work of art, crafted by genius. There are just so many little 'attention to detail' items to make life easier for the simmer. One that springs to mind is, very slightly extending the clickspot for items that may be slightly behind another switch. The only thing that's driving me nuts at the moment, is the PMDG Forum... It's SOOOO busy, that new posts just disapear in momentsWorried.gif Guess that'll settle down soon though.

my performance @ VC (with mouse off screen): LevelD-767: 28-30 fpsPMDG 737 NGX: 18-22 fps In other views I get with all addons constant 30fps (external limited). System:Phenom II 955 @ 3,8 | 4 GB RAM | GForce 280gtx | WinXP 64Bit | Saitek X52

imho you cannot compare a product made over 3 years ago with one made as recently as ngx for me the 767 is ok but not great, the ngx has moved the boundaries forward completely without affecting performance

Surely this must be dependent on what slider settings you use in FSX.
