no, you misunderstood , i have it already in fsx , now i want to try it in fsx se on the same drive however you do not have a triple installer like aerosoft, how do i retain my fsx version of the ngx and install it on fsx se without losing the fsx version?

i want to install the ngx on fsx se however as i have both fsx and the SE edition on the same hard drive all my current installer wants to do is either remove or repair the fsx version. how do i get it to ignore the fsx entry?

I make it more than 5 years do you think they will still release updates for it in 20 years ? i dont think so! after all this is M.S. we are talking about . with vatspy it is easier to find the regional frequencies being used, airports are the same but if you have a region or something like eurocontrol I cant find their frequencies in vatview. with 122.80 it can only be heard over a normal radios range so if you are in the us you will not hear euro transmissions

if like myself occasionally you want to avoid controlled airspace i use vatspy this will show you which airports are controlled and what regions, so you can choose where you want to fly easily. I also use vroute to see what area has booked to come on line from what time till waht time with this info you can plan to fly to a distant destination and arrive in their region as they go live say 3 hours later! 122.80 is there if you are out of a control area but can see in vatspy some possible conflict so you announce your intentions there (runway to use etc) so the other pilot can avoid you

if i can be allowed to add my two pence worth. As A retired pilot the initial thought of once again having atc nag me was perhaps the last thing I wanted and I also was having issues on getting connected as i found some of the vatsim paraphernalia a bit overaweing and difficult to get ones head around . I was befriended by one of the guys in this thread and he helped me immensely by helping me get online and fly using fsinn on vatsim. We did fly a bit together however he was more into using a two crew setup on the maddog (which I didnt have) and I was more wanting to do my own thing and didnt have the potential to reserve a certain time to go and fly online. But now I go online every now and then and fly mostly around europe and the Med where I live. One of the really neat things about vatsim here in europe is when you fly in say Greek airspace then the controller nearly always is Greek with a (sometimes difficult) accent , likewise if you fly in Germany etc and this all adds to the realism, I have had many a laugh when flying in reality listening to a pilot trying to comprehend a clearance that he has been issued with, so there is no need to be shy just sign on and have a go. I would of course suggest you start with a quiet airport and also get up to speed with the correct parlance but no-one is really going to cut you off or make a fool out of you, just do it one stage at a time. Although I used fsinn for a year or two I did find that at times it crashed or froze for no apparent reason, it also made the firing up of FSX much much longer, so I tried squawkbox and found that to be much easier to install and easier to use and had little or no effect on the speed that fsx started up, but hey its horses for courses, you pays your money (or not in this case) and you takes your choice.

i have been loathe to answer here as the last time i posted a similar m.s.bashing thread all the cronies came out of the woodwork and refused to engage in a good debate but simply flamed all and sundry that agreed with me. If you analyse M.S. it is being run exactly as Germany was by a certain mr. H , the guy at the top taking the credit whilst the admirals , gererals were given a free hand at most things to create something that mr. H would be proud.For me M.S. needs to be broken into several parts each running independantly. What I cannot ever understand is when certain top cronies at avsim were given a look at flight before its release they all came back and wrote rave reviews for us all to read, whilst in the meantime all the rest of us at ground level were already convinced that flight would bomb for a whole shed load of reasons that came to roost. Why didnt someone have the balls to say to M.S. "hey guys this is a no no" because i suppose M.S. were paying the bill for their day there. I was flamed for making this comment last time , but what other answer can there be? did they really think it was good? Another problem M.S. have with fsx is shown in their description , they consider it a game!!! isnt that just sweet? no wonder they thought joe public would buy into flight. I am quite sure the likes of PMDG or Aerosoft dont consider it a game, call it what it is A simulation! If M.S. wants to relook at FS11, 12 or whatever the person controlling the purse strings has to understand they are designing a simulation, because very few would invest the sums of money required in a game, understandably.

maybe I have had bad luck, but anything that I have bought from just flight, wilco and abacus, sadly ended in the bin, I also find that most Fighter a/c suit their name because you have to fight them to make them fly! and none that i have tried so far are anywhere close to being realistic strangely enough compared to others i got on alright with the cs757 given its limitations and it goes without saying that pmdg and orbyx have raised the bar a few notches.

Francevfr make some very good french scenery and horizon make uk photographic scenery which is also excellent

I still hold a hope that common sense will prevail, it is very clear from recent interviews that M.S. will not allow LM to produce a product for entertainment and have retained that right for themselves, hence LM's strange eula's, just how M.S. will get themselves back on track with another sim, only time will tell, but I wouldnt be a bit surprised if M.S. retains the right of access to whatever LM creates say in the upcoming version 2 and distribute that for entertainment purposes leaving LM to deal with the problems of "professionals" and M.S the beginners/hoipoloi. like some prior contributors I dont see X plane becoming a major challenge for fsx for quite some time , if ever, and i also believe the financial investment required to produce something better than fsx from scratch, are too high for most especially with the current climate so that really leaves the slender chance that someone with a bit of savvy at M.S. , and there are precious few of them left there, will pick up the reigns and produce the next generation of fsim, however I wouldnt hold my breath as blue isnt my best colour!

A good interview that does give some idea of where LM are going, However the interviewer didnt ask the obvious question that is on everyones lips when Martile answered " What it can’t do is support just-for-fun simming" My question is: Is this because of an agreement/contract with M.S. so that M.S. can in the future produce a sim for entertainment purposes (possibly based on the LM project) or is this a decision taken by LM themselves as they have no interest in supplying a product to the public in general?

I think if you read their statement you will see that they have no intention of allowing prepa3d to be used for entetainment or by hobbyists

one very minor question, for us that have version 3116 if we install the new sp1c what is the difference from 3116 to 3118?

i noticed when i installed sp1b that mine came up with 3116 not 3118 but as everything ran well didnt make any comment however with sp1c i get the warning" the setup has detected that version 1.00.3116 of pmdg 737 8900 is already installedthis setup is not compatible with this versionyou will have to uninstall the previous version before installing this version"

getting back to the start of this thread , there is no doubt that aerofly have come up with something interesting as a first attempt, one has to remember the likes of fsx didnt happen overnight, remember fs2 the starting point?and it has lots of positives from which they can go forward , and it hasnt been slagged off like flight , so I think a gentle thumbs up to aerofly and keep up the good work!I for 1 will buy it as there are times when i want to "fly" without having to spend half an hour setting up an a/c and a situation only to risk having a ctd for me the glider seems very interesting. there is plenty of room for a new sim especially as m.s. seem to have shot themselves in the foot.

It appears that we are losing something in the difference of our language from one side of the pond to the other ok thats life, i have come across it before, no sweat, since staring this thread all i wanted was an answer for why my system wouldnt run as it did with version 2922 it seems to have ended up getting nowhere just upsetting people , as a matter of information for those that are interested in getting better results out of fsx i tried my system with the stock lod of 4.5 and still experienced several ctd's however i have now increased my lod to 7.5 and just flown 2 flights with no ctd's at all so I am now a happy bunny again,thanks for all the input guys ngx is a good product i just dont understand how everyone got their knickers in a twist over such a trivial issue.

Robert, thank you as well for your answer, and I agree with all you say , however I am not some 16 year old that has no fsim experience i also am an atpl that flies airbuses in europe (my other 1179 is a 727 adv) , i have also used fsim since fs2 and there are not many on this site that can say that!I agree completely with the fact that increasing lod causes problems but it worked in 2922 I have over the years arrived at a level of knowledge by trying what others suggest , a suck it and see approach i guess , and perhaps i dont have your technical knowledge, but i am a lot better than some of your beta testers given the snags they didnt pick up in the first issue of ngx.But I am not here to criticise your product , i think it is marvelous and praise it wherever i go with other pilots I would just like a solution that has raised its head since installing sp1and as for those that criticise a high lod i have run much higher than 8.5 with other peoples add on scenery with spectacular results.I will try going back a few steps and see what happens i will re-uninstall ngx with spi and go back to 2922 and see if that works as it did if i use the windows uninstall should i also remove any mention of pmdg in the registry or leave that alone?

I take exception to this last remark as you have no idea of my knowledge or experience with fsim it may surprise you to know that fsx runs at 8.5 for everything except ngx in fact I have run it higher but found that 7.5-8.5 was a sweet spot with 2922, but you would know that as you know it all it seems, ---notI also know and accept that as ryan says it increases memory usage enormously but it handles it!! and you get the added benefit of no shimmering scenery even with orbyx that is why i find it strange that sp1 cant handle it.
