August 9, 201114 yr Since playing FSX I hardly ever tried to manual land. It was just too hard. As I have played now for about 5 years I have built up addons, and learned the ins and outs of fsx. I have also used many plane simulations and taught myself from the ground up through manuals and much internet research how to fly these advanced simulations. I do not want to be a real pilot, and I have no delusions about being a real pilot in terms of skill and knowledge. I, like everyone have been waiting for the NGX. I have spent all my free time practicing and this simulation is just amazing in every way. Last night I loaded up my sim and worked on touch and go's. I tweaked my ch flight yoke so it would fly straight, and then I took on the challenge of trying a manual landing with HGS. I flew to my RL home Denver,CO. I did it!. I took over manual control of the airplane at 1000ft and I followed the HGS...I don't know why but I my heart was beating fast and the pucker factor was high (after all I was just sitting in front of my PC.) I used only small corrections on the yoke, and she flew straight and true. It felt awesome to achieve my first manual landing. I did it again just now, and did really good. I know I am such a nerd but this is so addictive I love it! Guthrie Z
August 10, 201114 yr Very nice to hear your achievement! The level of accomplishment you feel when you manual land is amazing!
August 10, 201114 yr She hand flies beautifully, and with the accurate electric trim.....she's grand. Enjoy every minute of this redefining simulation :) Best- Carl Avari-Cooper
August 10, 201114 yr and with the accurate electric trim.....she's grand. This is one underrated feature! The trim feels and sounds right! Glad you worked it out, Guthrie ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
August 10, 201114 yr If you have any addon scenery for the new york area i recomend hand flying the camrn4 by hand into kjfk i did it in md80/82s and 757s many times and till this day its been one of the best experience for some reason i used to enjoy it so much... August 10, 201114 yr Congrats!!! Feels good eh? Wait until you hand fly a STAR and grease it on the runway without the HGS or AP or A/T. Kinda turns ya on a little!! LOL.This baby is a joy to hand fly. Specially at 35 FPS. "To most the sky is the limit but to me it's home" Rick Harms (CYVR) i7 [email protected] (for now) asus p6t v2, 6gb ocz 1600 CL7 ram. August 10, 201114 yr This is one underrated feature! The trim feels and sounds right! Glad you worked it out, Guthrie +1... It's AMAZING. Best regards, Fritz ESSONO
August 10, 201114 yr Yeah... it feels quite real, I never flew MD-11 nor B747 but I flew B727s and B737s, among some others and I can tell this amazing rendition to the NG B737s is pretty close to the real thing. My NG experience was on the B737-700 no WLs, however just a few things change. Hand flying NGX is taking me back in time when I enjoyed hand flying "Canarsie" approach at KJFK, and yes, trim behaviour is perfect and IMHO it was never achieved so close to reality till this great plane... she's adorable. I also share Tony's interests above. Art Washton.
August 10, 201114 yr Yeah, the trim "feeling" of the 737 NGX has made me really, really wish for a yoke with good force feedback. Would be sweet to trim accordingly to tactile feedback as opposed to having to look at the instruments to be able to tell if you´re trimmed properly. /Tord Hoppe, Sweden

August 10, 201114 yr Author Thanks everyone for your support. I think the flight sim community is one of the greatest. I just made another landing my best yet. I realized I was cutting throttle too early and flaring too hard so this last one I waited until 30 was called then cut throttle and just sort of feathered it at about 15 to 20 and I think I greased this one. Now to do this with a crosswind and weather lol. I think ill practice it 500 more times first. One piece of the puzzle at a time Guthrie Z
August 10, 201114 yr Fly her manually 10NM out from your airport, and get on and follow the G/S......really nice 1:1 special time. Chris Farrell Chris Farrell
