Which is the best FPS limiter?

Featured Replies

I've been using FPS Limiter 2.0 so far: never heard about Antilag. FPS Limiter 2.0 works with ENB without any problems. I wonder how much 'better' Antilag keeps the fps...? Because I can't see anything wrong with FPS Limiter...

I've tried both, with about the same results. The main advantage of "Antilag" is that it is simpler to set up - no Java required and no .bat files to create.

Hi,

I never seen any referene to enb being capable of controlling fps though you should note that enb and antilag cannot be used at the same time as they both require their own D3D9.dll be installed in FSX's root folder
That is not correct. Of course you can use both, the antilag and the ENB Series Mod at the same time. Works fine and looks good. I prefere the antilag instead of the Java FPS limiter because it works better at my system. The Java version has got some spikes in the frames and the antilag makes pretty constant FPS. I 'always' simply edit the bat with notepad. Java is only needed to use the GUI that comes with the limiter and that GUI is only used to edit the bat...! And since I didn't want to install Java just for this, I edited the bat. Just as simple as editing the antilag cfg... ;) You don't need java to use the actual limiter itself. But since the Antilag limiter seems to work a bit better (spikes) I might as well give it a try (and rename the D3D9.dll to D3D9E.dll and edit the line in enbseries.ini to the same name: ProxyLibrary=d3d9E.dll).

I installed antilag last night and it does a FAR better job of maintaining a consistent rate with much smaller fluctuations that FPS Limiter. I've installed the hot fix after hearing a few say they got a few extra fps. If that doesn't work I'm resizing the vc textures!

u dont need any fps limiter coz u wont reach more then 60fps (even 30 is a miracle) so what i suggest to u is: set (if u have nvidia) vSync FORCE OFF and then set unlimited and fly...ull get good fps too

You're the only person I've seen say that. I'm sticking with the limiter.

i use the limiter only with planes that get more then 60fps on the ground or into the sky. at less if u really wanna use it set it to 60 fps coz u get 2-3 fps more compared to the limiter set at 30 good luck

I really think you're missing the whole point of the frame limiter. The point of the limiter is to limit extra GPU/CPU workload and avoid blurries/FPS surges.

My machine will not do 60fps. If I can stabilize it between 25-30 and let the CPU have the rest of it, I'm happy.

no. ive thousand of hour test about performance and trust me. fsx run perfect. i get even on big airport from 28 to 38 in vc during tunderstorm with plan like captain sim 757/767 and MD11 and 45% UT2 and rex with ssx.cfg set to 2048. i have a top 775 system and no sluttering. everything fluid.

I'm not sure what sluttering is, but I'm pretty sure it's illegal in the US. tongue.png Seriously though, especially on a 775 system, are you saying you never get blurries, ever? Because that's getting to be old hardware and I know I for one could not avoid the blurries without a limiter. Keep in mind I was extremely over clocked on the old Core 2 system I had.
