August 17, 201114 yr Everything was going great, did the LENYD5 into JFK tonight, vnav and lnav. Flawless. Then I started getting vectors for the ILS 4R at JFK. Both NAV1/2 radios tuned to the proper frequency, both OBS's dialed in. HGS all setup for the approach, vref entries made etc etc. I was able to use VOR/LOC to track the localizer but upon selecting APP it just bumped off VOR/LOC and went to CWS/single Ch. All I did was select APP. Obviously it didn't like that. What did I do wrong? AFAIK it isn't required to use CMD A and B to fly the approach. This is the only thing I can think of that I did not select ch B. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

Singe Ch was annunciated in yellow on the ND. After a while, i honestly didn't check what altitude, LAND 3 annunciated on the ND. Rick Hobbs
August 17, 201114 yr Hmmm, never had that happen to me, just did a couple approaches today both utilizing the APP button and worked flawlessly. I might be wrong, but I thought I remember reading somewhere in the docs that the NGs change modes to CWS mode if you hit the yoke with a certain amount of pressure with CMD engaged. Are you sure you're not moving your yoke accidentally or have some sort of calibration issue? Brandon Burkley
August 17, 201114 yr Yeah I flew into JFK earlier today iwht NGX that single ch came up but somehow I still engaged g/s engaged cmd b and flew an autoland

Not being that familiar with this ac, is the annunciator light on th app button supposed to extinguish on capture? Becuase i have all greens on my ND. Rick Hobbs

August 17, 201114 yr yea when i click on APP, only VOR/LOC arms and not G/S and does not enable both autopilots Victor Castillo
August 17, 201114 yr yea when i click on APP, only VOR/LOC arms and not G/S and does not enable both autopilotsAre you close enough to receive the G/S signal? G/S (LOC too for that matter) won't arm if you're too far away.
August 17, 201114 yr Yes i am close enough. I click APP when i see the G/S diamond appeared. I click once after LOC capture and light illuminates, second time i click on it again because it extinguishes and had no G/S capture and the diamond is not filled in and get 1 CH and CWS R when i have not touched the yoke. I also tried another time with out clicking on it twice and i passed the G/S and had to da a go around. Victor Castillo
August 17, 201114 yr Same happend for me, after missed app at copenhagen airport, before the missed app it worked well. Patrick - Denmark i7 10900k - GTX1060 (To be upgraded to RTX3080-ti) - 32 GB of RAM - Nvme SSD - 100 mbps internet

I did three ILS approaches earlier tonight and didn't have a single problem on any of them. Hopefully someone else might have an idea and can help you out.

Wait unitl the diamond is about 'one dot high' before selecting APPR, not when you first see it at the top of the PFD. Jay
August 17, 201114 yr GUYS THIS IS IMPORTANT. I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT IN ORDER FOR IT TO WORK CORRECTLY, YOU HAVE TO SELECT g/s ON IN THE APP VREF PAGE. AT LEAST IT WORK FOR ME AND I TRIED TURNING IT OFF AND UNSELECTED AND RESELECTING APP AND G/S DID NOT APPEAR. SO I TURNED IT ON AND I SAW IT THERE. Victor Castillo
August 17, 201114 yr Yes. Check out FCOM v2 p.198-202 of the PDF :)Thanks, I guess i'm a little behind in my reading. Rick Hobbs
