August 17, 201114 yr if i lose A system, the normal steering should be lost. but it works as very well in NGX even if A is lost. is that normal?
August 17, 201114 yr I believe it is a limitation of FSX. The nose steering / rudder inputs are linked and cannot be worked around in FSX. Ken EhlersF70
August 17, 201114 yr I believe it is a limitation of FSX. The nose steering / rudder inputs are linked and cannot be worked around in FSX. A confirmation from the developers? If this be the answer and the problem could not be overridden, then FSX has NO sense, the NGX has NO sense, PC flight simulation has NO sense, or better, will always be a simple, non-professional, game! August 17, 201114 yr On some aircrafts the alternate steering (system B switches automatically. Maybe that's what PMDG modeled. http://www.b737.org.uk/hydraulics.htm

August 18, 201114 yr Do you see the NOSE WHEEL STEERING switch under the capt clock, switch that to ALT !!!!. Mark Scheerman Boeing 737-6/7/8/900 Ground Engineer
August 19, 201114 yr Wow! You're kidding right? Kidding? Why? Such a complex aircraft as the NGX and you say that the wheel steering will always be active, even with zero hydraulics? James Goggi
August 19, 201114 yr Kidding? Why? Such a complex aircraft as the NGX and you say that the wheel steering will always be active, even with zero hydraulics?Perhaps you would be happier with World of Warcraft. Nobody, to the best of my knowledge, has ever suggested the FSX was a 'professional' game, so your reaction to finding out it isn't would seem to be a little excessive. While Ken was correct in stateing that the rudder and the nosewheel steering were linked, saying they could not be 'worked around' was open to being mis-interpreted. Check out topics like 'speed related steering inputs', FSUIPC assignment of NWS channel and so on. To the OP, the behaviour you experience would depend on a] your controller configuration, b] your speed and c] your use of Alternate steering mode. Paul Smith.
August 19, 201114 yr Commercial Member Kidding? Why? Such a complex aircraft as the NGX and you say that the wheel steering will always be active, even with zero hydraulics?PMDG made a big deal about intercepting controller inputs to more accurately model the flight controls, so modelling accurate NWS behavior should be relatively easy. I must say I've been a little perplexed by some of their decisions (e.g. no terrain display on the F/O side, despite the terrain view apparently having ZERO performance impact). Best regards,Robin.
