Brighter overhead panel light

Featured Replies

In the 3d cockpit I find it very hard when it's dark to see all the knobs.I do use Track IR and can zoom in very well but I can't imagine it is so dark in real life too. Can that be changed, or can I do that myself? Regards,Robin

euh dome light perhaps ? flood light ? background panel .... all is there in the cockpit

I press shift+L and then all the lights go on. Or do I mis something?

Do you have your panel and MCP Flood lights on with the dome lights? Also, update to hotfix 3, the dome lights in some models didn't fully light up the cockpit. Tyler St. Peter

The other panels have a background light control, does the overhead panel have one?

The overhead uses the dome light for "flood" illumination. If you look at the location of the dome lights in the cockpit, they actually illuminate the overhead very well.

I re-downloaded and re-installed the 737NGX on 17aug. So I do think I have the latest hotfixes installed. I always press Shift+L to put the cockpitlights on. I think al lights go on at that moment but maybe not.I see all the small lights burning etc. but if I try to click the light for strobe/nav I always press other buttons around it, like the Beaconlight.

Shift L just turns on panel lights, according to this guide I found: http://www.mutleyshangar.com/downloads/FSX%20Keyboard%20Commands%20Pamphlet.pdf Anyways, look below the Inboard Capt DU, and you'll see two larger knobs. The left is panel flood, the right is AFDS flood. Also, on the Aft overhead, hit the switch that says "dome". That will get you lit up well. You can look down to the pedestal, and on the back left of it are two knobs for pedestal lighting. I hope that helps. Tyler St. Peter

Look at the bottom the the aft overhead. There is a white three position switch in the middle, that's your dome lights. Tyler St. Peter

Agree, the overhead panel could do with background lighting or some ambient light, hard to see knob position.

I reckon if you took away all the pointless "can I have this, can I have that" posts you'd be left with a virtually empty forum.
