737NGX alarm on approach

Featured Replies

Hello, As I land the NGX, a long beep-sounding alarm goes off, and it can only be switched off by selecting the flaps to 15, resulting in a fast landing. Any suggestions on how to manage this properly would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Kevin L

Please extend the landing gear.wink.png

Greetings from the 737 flightdeck!

Did you notice you need full power to taxi to the gate? wink.png

Lower the landing gear before extending the flaps beyond 15

I extended the flaps to 15, then lowered the gear, and lowered the flaps to 30, but the alarm still went off. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Kevin L

Did you wait until the gear is fully extended?

I, and I believe most real world pilots, drop the gear first and then add flaps 15. You want to be at flaps 5 manueveruing speed (maybe even 10) at 2000ft above ground level before you drop the gear and add flaps 15.

Yes.

Ok, I'll give that a try. Thanks.

Most of the time, the gear down and the flaps 15 calls are made together, so it really shouldn't cause the config warning.

Looks like it still doesn't work. I have tried adding flaps 15 first, dropping the gear first, and I tried 767fan's instructions 3 times. When I add flaps 15 and drop the gear, the alarm comes on but turns off if I advance the throttles to somewhere around 30-60 percent. It then comes back on when I select flaps 30, and stays on, even if I advance the throttles to 100 percent. Also, on the Engine display, there's a message that says 'G/A'. Does this mean that I have to set Go-Around power and Go-around?

Thanks,

Kevin L

It's your landing warning system telling you that the A/C is not correctly configured for landing. There are four set of condition's when the landing warning horn will sounds: To check the landing gear is down and locked there are 6 GREEN lights 3 green lights above landing gear lever (primary sensor's) and 3 green lights on the AFT overhead panel (secondary sensors). In the first set of conditions, the horn sounds when these conditions are true:* Gear is not down and locked* Flap position is from 0 to 10 units* Thrust levers are set for landing* Radio altitude is between 200 and 800 feet. For the first set of conditions, push the horn cutout switch near the flap lever to stop the horn. In the second set of conditions, the horn sounds when these conditions are true:* Gear is not down and locked* Flap position is from 0 to 10 units* Thrust levers are set for landing* Radio altitude is less than 200 feet. For the second set of conditions, the pilot cannot stop the horn. In the third set of conditions, the horn sounds when these conditions are true:* Gear is not down and locked* Flap position is from 15 to 25 units* Thrust levers are set for landing. For this set of conditions, the pilot cannot stop the horn. In the fourth set of conditions, the horn sounds when the gear is not down and locked and the flap position is more than 25 units. The pilot cannot stop the horn. When the airplane is in the fourth set of conditions, the system inhibits the landing warning horn during a go-around. Thesystem inhibits the warning for 12 seconds after the pilot puts the gear lever in the up position. the G/A indication above the engine indication is the autothrottle thrust mode where the A/T system delivers to thrust you need if you push the TOGA switch to Go-around. It does not mean you must go-around the G/A indication is always visible during approach.

Oh, now that you mention the landing gear status, I remembered that I have to put the NGX's gear lever in 'Off' in order for my Saitek Switch Panel to work. So, my gear lever is 'Off' all the time, but my Switch Panel shows 3 greens. I'll see if putting the lever in 'Down' mode will solve the problem. Thanks for your help. :(

Thanks,

Kevin Putting gear down with mouse from the VC will sort your problem. I've had same issue with Go-Flight landing gear. Flaps work but gear handle gets the green lights but on approach any reduction below certain limits will set off alarm. If I use the GoFlight & then use the mouse I still get alarm. The only way to silence the alarm is to use mouse only. Lights still work on the GoFlight module. If anyone has found a way around that, please let me know?

Only when the throttle is above 40% (or something like that)? Bert Van Bulck
