October 5, 201114 yr Flew EGKK - LGTS the other day and as I was taking a look in EFB to decide on Approach and Arrival there was plenty of tfc up and down the Adriatic coast.Yes, that does happen, then you go and do another flight, and it drops off again. I am afraid it is intermittent. Also don;t ever count on simconnect ever being updated, aces took the repair book to the grave with them. October 10, 201114 yr Oh well,Just have to wait and see if the next version of M$'s simulator (Flight) offers anything better? (Pigs do fly i believe). I too forked out for the EFB in the hope it could teach me more about navigation and assist with navigating airports and surrounds easier. I am struggling with opening the EFB on a separate monitor with FSX and the NGX running side-by-side... cant run FSX full screen it seems. All very frustrating. The PMDG product is unquestionably a work of art. The EFB while not perfect is a very handy utility to have running. I really hope 'someone' from either Aivlasot or PMDG can assist with some form of fix. It would be nice. Cheers,David. David Stewart, Dianella, Western Australia. New PC coming one day! | In the meantime I fly with; AMD X64 1.2Ghz Dual Core | 6Gb Ram | 6600GT | Old case | FSX | REX | Superbug FA-18F | Capt Sim 767 | ORBX Aust Scenery | Jandakot | PC12 & numerous others.
October 10, 201114 yr It's not like the product doesn't work at all, you just cant see Traffic in EFB once you take off that's all, its hardly the end of the world is it, the TCAS in the NGX is for that purpose anyway. You have never been able to run FS fullscreen and be able to display an external program on another monitor at the same time on one PC, that limitation has nothing to do with the NGX or EFB, its just the way FSX and FS9 are, you have no choice, you either task switch between EFB and FSX or you run FS in windowed mode, end of. Cheers, Andy.
October 10, 201114 yr I don't really see what the problem is here. We all know that there are limits to the resources available in FSX and that if you want to max out one area you must sacrifice on another. Max graphics vs. max framerates is the normal example, but it applies to every other resource aswell. FSX, for what ever reasons, has a limit on the amount of traffic possible over simconnect. EFB and NGX both attempt to use more then half that limit, so can not both operate at full performance on the same machine at athe same time. Paul Smith.

Interesting, these flooding not only causes problems for gamespy multiplayer but also ENB, disappearing traffic, etc. Probably these floodings causes IVAP client to crash as well? But ofc, it's Microsoft's fault, eh? ... OK Vit@min, you have managed to make me break a promise I made to myself a few weeks ago, but I feel it is not in the Spirit of the "MS Flight Simm" Community, not to share potentially usefull information, so here goes. This may be a different issue, and although I swore to myself, that I would not bring this up again in the forum, this is something different. There is UDP packet Flooding, and there is also Simconnect Flooding. PMDG's resolution of the UDP flooding has been clearly stated by RSR, so I will not go there anymore. MAJOR Simconnect flooding seems to be being caused by the "Terrain Avoidance systems", and that is the nature of the beast. (This is what is probably affecting EBN, and any other simconnect reliant addon, running on the sim when the 737NG is also running). HOWEVER, that flooding could be STOPPED, if , when the Terrain Avoidance display was tuned OFF, the Simconnect calls to support the "Terrain Avoidance systems" were also turned off. (as they are no longer needed if the display is not showing Terrian.) This would allow the OPTION, to effectively turn OFF this Major Simconnect flooding (That also results in additional UDP flooding), should one choose to do so, to enable ENB to better use Simconnect resources. Just a suggestion (To PMDG)... "Consider Turning off the Simconnect Flooding (Create Barrel object / destroy Barrel object), when "Terrain Avoidance display" is turned off."

I use EFB (display unit networked on another system) and see the same behavior...AI all over the map when in the first few minutes of flight, but they'll eventually tail off to nothing on the map despite my view out the window showing several AI in the area. It seems to affect the TCAS system from time to time as well. On more than a few occasions, on popular routes, I'll end up in a train of UT2 aircraft flying the same route, with a couple ahead and a few behind me. The one's ahead sometimes show up on TCAS while other times, they don't. In all instances, these should easily be within range/height filters on the TCAS. On other occasions, I'll have UT2 traffic approach from ahead and on the same or very close FL (they don't seem to abide by east/west FL decorum)....sometimes they'll show on TCAS and other times they won't. This occurs ONLY with the NGX. Problem not seen with the PMDG MD-11 or others...so I'll blame PMDG for this one, but won't fret over it...just have to keep my eyes open while flying, not trusting the TCAS entirely. Scott Burns
