What Cost Index do you input?

Recommended Posts

I use 100 in most cases since my plane runs on two CFM infinite improbability engines that refills itself with an entry in the CDU. 2 to the power of 2076775949 to 1 against and falling!

Am I alone here in believing that the CI also has a certain influence on the VNAV rate of descent? Whistle.gif Cheers, Brian

I use 50, unless I'm in a hurry, because my son is hassling me to use my PC. Then it's about 80. Or of course a super model, or famous actress, may be waiting for me to nip round to their places to entertain them, then I usually use a cost index of about 20 to 30,000.

International -700/-800's uses a different Cost Index which I actually need to find out by an actual Delta Pilot soon. 17 is domestic however it fluctuates due to demand/supply of fuel.

Cool! Thanks for the info. I tend to fly US domestic routes except for the occasional trip to Madeira or St. Maarten.

Most Alaska flight plans call for the CI of 15 with a small few that call for 30. Since I use their live flight plans, I just use whatever CI is assigned to that flight.

Malev flies with 11, which in some cases, as the pilots explained, is not really saving money, since engines run relatively more hours on the same trip distance, and when the big maintenance comes, those saved costs can really disappear...

I believe one of our Tech Team members stated his company is almost always under 20 and typically is 12-18.
