Before the NGX was released the only jetliners I ever flew were the default 737s that came with FSX and FS9, which, mildly put, were rudimentary. Sure, I had plenty of experience with general aviation aircraft (my favourite type of flying) and the J-41 (my only other PMDG aircraft), but I didn't know the first thing about a properly simulated 737. I jumped in at the deep end, so to speak. But guess what? After following and flying the tutorial flight twice, once during the day once at night, I was really surprised how easy to use the 737 and how logically designed the whole cockpit and the FMC was. Many things are self explainatory, other things can be read on the forum, and some more things can be found on Youtube. An engine start tutorial for the old PMDG 737 for example, which is close enough get the NGX up an running. On the the very next day after first installing the NGX I knew what every switch does and how to program flight plans, how to start up the engine, how to fly the aircraft using the autopilot or manually, how to land it etc. The 737 may be hard to master, mostly due to all the rules and procedures that are being commnanded by airlines and the FAA or similar institutions, but it's very easy to learn. Boeing certainly didn't design the aircraft to make it hard for pilots, and soon you will realize that what looks like an impenetrable forest of knobs, switches and buttons is in fact a very easy to manage cockpit that is a lot of fun to fly in. You don't need to invest in an extra training to use the aircraft, to have fun with it and to do proper flights, but it can be helpful if you want to go the whole nine yards and learn the proper prodecures and reasons behind the checklist items. This concludes my motivational speech. Dig in! wink.png
Thanks.

GUYS! I think I finally got the hang of the FMC... (Keyword: FMC, NOT TEH PLANE!, oh yes, I spelled the teh.) I watched this guy's tutorial, in which he sounds like Darth Vader:

Tell me, is it any good tutorial, or is he giving me a bunch of BS information??? Thanks for the help in this plane!

I showed exactly how the FMC gets programmed in real life in the tutorial that comes with the plane... step by step. As for the other user asking how you know where you are without maps of the shoreline ala a Garmin GPS - I think you need to do some basic learning about IFR procedures. Look at those moving maps is largely advisory only even in the real world - you need to learn about VORs and radial/DME stuff etc, that's the true way that it's done in the real world. Way too complicated a topic to explain in a forum post though... But that's the key, you need to learn how to "fly IFR" first - the way the NGX's navigation systems work will make a lot more sense once you do. An airline pilot cruising at FL370 could care less what shoreline is below him, he's flying largely off radio beacon courses and distances.

Christ, linux.. first you annoy and ###### off people at flightsimworld, now you have to bring it here too? Don;t bother giving this kid advice, he's just going to ignore it and keep asking questions you've already answered numerous times. You seriously had your parents spend $70 on a plane before you even bothered doing any research on it, whether it was an advanced simulation or a "pick me up and fly me right away with a gps" plane? EVERYONE here has said read the fricking manuals that come with the NGX, that is more than enough information to get you going. You can't expect people to spoon-feed you everything!

Ahh hey you again! If you have noticed tge manuals are big, and they take some time to read, not just 1 hour. Also, it's difficult to squint at the screen because of the small text. I payed for the plane... who else?

So you want people here to type it out just for you?

Yes, thanks for that. I also got the lag issue fixed via Bejote's online tool, I recommend everyone to check it out. By the way, does anyone know what happened to *******? It seemed he dissapeared from the FS community.

... okay.
I can only guess what this is all about: and, I find it extremely distasteful when ANYONE goes out of his/her way to be rude. There are people on this forum whom I respect for having taken the time to help this person and others time and time again.I have a motto: If I "can't do right by you", then I will do nothing.*******, even the PMDG "rep" who posted in this thread was helpful. Looking at your last name, you may even be my in-law: do onto others fella.

He's been an annoyance to members on the FlightSimWorld forums, posting tons of questions and receiving tons of help.. then he goes and posts the same question the next day, and asks for help again.. completely disregarding all the tips and advice given to him in the original thread.

thanks for the information. i dont understand why peiple think im trolling.... thanks. Do you mean a flight plan? does that mean i cant use the fsx atc? i thought this was an unoffivial forum for pmdg? but thanks though. if you guys come across a GOOD tutorial with q voice over please tell me... most of the tutorials i find are either in germqn or french, or they hqve the instructions on the description...
You might want to look at the training from Angle of Attack which is specific to the NGX, the videos are in production at the moment but has already started. There is more information on the main forum page Regards, Ceri

David, I get where you're coming from: I do. However, consider that Diego may be a minor or, englshmay not be his first language.---back in the thread he said that videos are "easier" for him.You wouldn't shut down a young mind would you? P.S. My nephew-in-law "David Garrison", an anesthesiologist, passed away a few years ago in his 30's.Take care and no more "side bars". Diego, continue to ask for help: if I can I'll always help you.

He ascended !!! LOL.gif
Well if he did, I hope he was paying attention to the advice on not flying in icing conditions, or on a weekend when there are lots of holiday flights likely to affect your departure slot, which a NOTAM in the Bible conveniently offers to pilots, in the Gospel of Matthew 24, 20: ''But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day'' He might have also had to go around after descending below the glideslope, at least that's a possibility according to Timothy 6, 11-16, which says that: "******* dwells in unapproachable light" Al
