September 29, 201114 yr Author I'll have to put it in my sig. **EDIT**: I got it! I only had to lower my LOD levels in the fsx.cfg. On a side note, anyone know what to put in this box? I'm guessing Advanced RNAV with single FMS. Thanks. Edited September 29, 201114 yr by linux731 i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB

I see from your "sig" that English is indeed not your first language.Hang in there and keep doing "all" of the tutorials, your 'aha' moment will come. One more thing, that system listed in your "specs" is a little dated: however don't go out and buy a new rig.Turn down as much settings as you feel comfortable with: your first priority is to learn the NGX. Sorry I can't help you with the squawkbox flight plans. Alex Cadle

Sorry I can't help you with the squawkbox flight plans. I almost got my "click" moment today doing the tutorial. I was just programming the FMC for now, though, and I didn't finish. I am going to find someone that has a laser jet printer and actually try to print out the entire tutorial, so I don't have to keep Alt Tabbing through my flight. Is my computer really that bad? 0_o It's from June 2010. Edited September 29, 201114 yr by linux731 i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB

Go for for the "quality\depth" of the NGX now instead of ANY eye-candy.Turn down as much "eye candy" as you can: I'm running at 4.4GHz but, I also have a lot of the "eye candy" turned down. It's about learning the NGX right now: later you can go for the "pretty" ...er picture. You should be able to get it printed at staples, however, I can't guess what it would cost.I use a KOBO eReader for my docs and, I can bring it with me where ever I go. Alex Cadle

I think my dad at his work has this huge HP laserjet that prints a blue-print size map in 10 seconds, and it's free. You can also print at Kinko's, and usually it's cheaper. The only problem turning down the settings makes is making it harder to read the knobs. I believe the setting that changes the inside of the plane is the "Global Texture Resolution" slider, which in my case is all the way to the right, or else it makes everything inside the plane blurry and unreadable. i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB

FIRST if you are unsure DON'T DO WHAT I'M ABOUT TO SUGGEST.If you are sure, then try: 1] Turn "Global Texture Resolution" down to "medium".2] On the "aircraft" tab ensure that "High-resolution 3-D virtual cockpit" has a "check" mark: in other words it must be enabled.3] Uncheck "aircraft casts shadows on it self".4] Uncheck "aircraft casts shadows on the ground".5] On the "weather" tab ensure that "simple clouds" is "checked".6] On the "traffic" tab ensure that your sliders are all over to the left: at this point you really don't need any traffic. Try the above and see if it help. P.S. You may also need to defrag your hard drive unless, you're using an SSD. Alex Cadle
September 29, 201114 yr I never refused anyone's help. I just said I didn't have time for it. That's bad news man. If you don't have the time for others, how do you expect them to take time for you. i don't know why you're playing around with squawkbox and VATSIM right now, you gotta get the airplane off the ground first dude. Once you get the hang of it you will not want to go back to GPS. Trust me, read the tutorial flight, and don't make excuses, and actually learn how it works. You will be surprised how much more powerful it is than the default GPS. Also, you said something earlier on that you dont want to do a 2-3 hour flight, but trust me, that is not long at all. I started it today, but I didn't finish since I had to do something else. I do now have a better understanding of SIDS and STARs. So I think he may have a little too much on his plate. But since he says " I do now have a better understanding of SIDS and STARs.", what would you suggest he "tackle" next? After all, he will have to program the "FMC" in order to "get the airplane off the ground first dude". September 29, 201114 yr Best place to practice is to turn OFF AI, turn down some scenery settings ie dont waste frames looking at boats in the river, turn off the water effects and just have the plane on the runway and practice some circuits. I dont know why there is a need to have all the vatsim stuff up, if you don't understand the aircraft. The online flying can come later. Set yourself a couple of hours to fly, of course do the assignments cause the plane will wait for you :-) Brent Lewis

Set yourself a couple of hours to fly, of course do the assignments cause the plane will wait for you :-) Exactly. +1 No new pilot is thrown into the cockpit of a major airliner at JFK and then told to get on with it, they all start out by hitting the books and doing the basics first, often at a quiet airfield. You should certainly take a leaf out of their book and do that too, since you will get there quicker and less painfully if you do it that way. So yup, wait for the weekend when you are not busy thinking about ten other things you have to do, get a big pot of coffee and no distractions (including ATC, AI traffic, bloom settings and all that unecessary stuff), then hammer those tutorial flights. A decent afternoon spent doing that will work wonders. Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
September 30, 201114 yr Author OK, I just HAD to come here and say this.... I did it! I did the tut. flight, and all went well. I have a much better understanding now of the FMC, SIDs and STARs, and how the approach works at Schiphol... I'll have to do it multiple times until I can finally do it out of my head, and that I can do other flights as well. This was my first complete flight in the NGX, and this was also my first "Cross the Pond" flight, in any aircraft. I can't wait for tutorial # 2. I was going to record me doing the flight, but it was kinda loud in my house, so I ditched the idea. Anyway thanks Ryan! i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
September 30, 201114 yr I did it! Congrats... When you have more time to invest you should consider getting Flight Sim Commander (or EFB et-al) it makes things a little easier in the route planning stage, you can generate a route and simply enter the file name into the fmc it makes things far more manageable. You would still need to enter runways etc but the workload reduces. Anyway, i hope that you have found this aircraft more statisfying than the stock FSX 737. Ian R Tyldesley
