FSX/P3D SCENERIES: compatibility questions and issues

Featured Replies

Trying to solve the just as in FSX too brown desertlike winter ground textures in Europe, here's a landclass comparison in P3D above Southern France (LFBZ & LFMK) : Stock, Scenerytech Europe and Xclass Europe. The topic is in french, sorry about that, but the pictures speak for themselves.

Orbx scenery, airports and aircraft released for FSX cannot be used for Prepar3D as our EULA prohibits this and many of our supporting files and apps require recoding for P3D and won't work properly outside the FSX folder structure. We will be releasing demo areas for P3D through the next month, then progressively our FSX addons will be recompiled for P3D and made available on the followng basis:A. Full commercial license with provision for on-selling to customers or for-profit useB. Academic/developer license for personal education/development use onlyC. A cross-grade licensee fee (under $9) to convert your FSX license to a P3D Academic/Developer licenseUntil such license options are in place Orbx does not condone any attempts to use, port, tweak or share information on the use of our FSX addons within P3D. In the meantime we have a free PNW Demo available with KHQM Bowerman Airport included should you wish to determine relative performance of Orbx addons under P3D.I hope this clarifies our position :)
Hi John, the 9$ cross license would be required for each FSX ORBX scenery license that you own, or for all licenses that you own? Thanks

Hello,I tested the fluidity of 30cm textures (4096 pix) to see if they penalized P3D.These textures are freeware: see the link for more info.https://sites.google.com/site/aimecreations/30cm-project+ Mesh 4.7m of FranceVFR and ENBserie in supplement.Result, even by recording with Fraps, it is totally fluid, no sttuter. The only ones whom we can see are owed to the bad conversion of YT.The video:

Thanks to watch it.FriendlyAimé

Hi Aime,Nice video, am I to assume that the same scenery and aircraft in FSX has stutters? Also, the glider is quite easy going, so I am not sure if it's the right plane to do the comparison. In my own experience, now that I tried it out, performance is the same as FSX for the add-ons that I use. Vu

Hi,Concerning the glider, you are right, your remark is relevant. But the purpose is to see how behaves P3D with textures as maximum load, without being penalized by a too greedy plane fps. I am going to make the other tests in the same conditions with a greedier aircraft in resources.Friendly(sorry for french-english translate)

Hello,Here is the continuation of the test with a greedier aircraft fps. There is from time to time sttuter, especially in bend, but nothing dramatic.

With all respect, GA is not hungry. Try NGX. Or 747.

Hmmm, these textures concern more the VFR. I think that for liners they are without interest. I regrettably have no this type of aircrafts to try. However, if somebody wants to test them, these textures can be downloaded by following these links.https://sites.google.com/site/aimecreations/ALCreations/downloadFriendly

Even if they were originally meant for FSX, here are a few shots of Aimé's fall-winter rural textures replacement set in P3D.Available from Avsim : Fall - Winter

Can anyone give me step by step instructions to get UTX working in Prepar3d?Thanks - Andyjo

I'm also having issues with getting UTX Europe to work in Prepar3D - I've carried out the following tasks:- Used the reg tweak tool to re-point FSX path to Prepar3D's path- Confirmed that UTX installed to the Prepar3D directory successfully- Copied over the relevant entries in both scenery.cfg & terrain.cfgAm I missing anything else? Many thanks in advance for any assistance!

I would also be grateful for the same information. It would help flying outside FTX PNW with some better vegetation and colours. Please PM me if you are able to help - it might reduce any problems from the circling sharks. Also I apologise deeply for having lost the reference to the Path tweak. I would be most grateful if someone could point me to it.

Hi,Looks like Tropical-Sim's KDCA works fine from within P3D.

Former Beta Tester - (for a few companies) - As well as provide Regional Voice Set Recordings

                Two: AMD-9950X | One: AMD-7950X3D | Three: Asus TUF 4090s | Three: 64GB DDR5 RAM 6000mhz | Three: Cosair 1300 P/S | Three: 990Pro 2TB NVME                    One: Eugenius ECS2512 - 2.5 GHz Switch | Three: Ice Giant Elite CPU Coolers | Three: 75" 4K UHDTVs | One: Boeing 737NG Flight Deck

I have found the reg utility from TweakFS to be essential for getting FSX material installed, rather than transferred, into Prepared. However if anyone has got a work around for the FSUIPC crash on exit I would love to know.I have the GEXs all working well beneath the Orbx SBSLs, but with the Wilco Airbus and the iFly 737 I am getting a high sensitivity to crashes. I intend to make a screen of one of the error notices and hope Lockheed can sort it.For me, I am finding P3D more satisfying to fly than FSX so I would love to get the bugs associated with 'made for some other sim' aircraft that I have pushed into P3 squashed. If Aerosoft brings its Airbus X extended onto the market with a P3D installer, I can boot the made for FS9 Wilco in its favour.

I use symbolic links so i can install the most addons into P3D. Here is a handy tool: http://code.google.com/p/symlinker/You`ll need a symbolic folder link for:C:Users<USERNAME>AppDataRoamingMicrosoftFSX > C:Users<USERNAME>AppDataRoamingLockheed MartinPrepar3DC:ProgramDataMicrosoftFSX > C:ProgramDataLockheed MartinPrepar3DAnd one symbolic file link:C:Users<USERNAME>AppDataRoamingLockheed MartinPrepar3DFSX.cfg > C:Users<USERNAME>AppDataRoamingLockheed MartinPrepar3DPrepar3D.CFGI also put an extracted FSX.exe in the P3D folder (From a FSX SP2 MSI, just extract the MSI)Then i used the Flight1-Reg-Repair-tool to set the path. This Tip is only for Vista & Win7
