October 21, 201114 yr Jonathan, I too just used the planner. I really like the user interface and the option to print; what a great idea. Thanks so much for doing this and it will become my main fuel planner. Best, Chris K. Chris B. Trane
October 22, 201114 yr Author Thank you for your replies! Today version 0.4 went online. Featuring LBS for the PAX and the CARGO MD11. As always the tool can be found here: http://fuel.cwsurf.de/ Best regards! Jonathan John Rubens
December 2, 201114 yr Jonathan, that is wonderful!!! I have been using an excel planner that a Forum user gave me a year ago and it is great, extremely accurate for long distance fligths (and extremely detailed)....but yours is just the ticket for the "regular" and short flights, a pleasure to use...many thanks! Will Reynolds Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
December 6, 201114 yr How's it going guys, I'm new to the community, and just start flying the MD about 3 days ago. Something out of this world, great product that was produced by PMDG. Well just have a quick question if anyone could answer it, thought this would be a good place to post it rather then creating a new topic myself. Currently, I'm flying a long-haul flight from EHAM to MPTO, this is actually my second time flying this route. The first time around I actually ran out of fuel just about 400 to 500 NM away from MPTO. This time around, I'm currently tuned in to New York Center around the BDA 81 sector, and I'm probably about 1 hour to 1 hour in a half into sector, with 68900LB left of fuel. Im crusing at 340, with a thrust level of about 90 N1/ 92 N2. I have 2410 NM miles left and I believe once more, I won't be able to make it. Also, where can I download the fuelplanner the link is not working. Victor A. Barragan
December 6, 201114 yr Author Hi,@Will I am glad to hear it that you like it! ;)@TUNWONThe first indication that you won't make it is the 'insufficient fuel' warning on the FMC. This warning may gives you a hint if you will make it or not. Howevever when you want to see if you will make it refere to the FMC and press the PROG key on the CDU keyboard. Now you will see various names and numbers. Beside the ICAO name of your destination airport (eg: MPTO) you see the ETA. ETA is the Estimated Time of Arrival. Beside it you will have the quantity of fuel remaining at this position/airport. If this value is >0 you will make it, if its greater than 800kgs you will probably also make it to your parking position and if it is greater than 7000kgs you won't get any problems with the FAA. ;)And there isn't a download link for my fuelplanner because it is based on php and HTML. In the stated in ghe first thread you can choose betwen the PAX and the freigther MDs and there you go.Jonathan John Rubens
December 16, 201114 yr In case anybody does long distance flights, send me a PM and I can share the Fuel Planner designed by Karl Heinz Wichmann...it is a full flight planner and fuel/payload planner for both the PMDG 747 and the MD-11 Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
January 3, 201214 yr Author Hallo,Today I uploaded V00.41 which contains some changes in the minimum reserve fuel calculating system. Any feedback is anticipated. I would like to hear from you how many fuel you had left in your tanks as you landed and the distance you had flown. Thank you,Jonathan John Rubens
February 18, 201214 yr I've been playing around with several different fuel planners and wanted to get some input from users. Jonathan, I've used your fuel planner and really like the interface but I usually get a low fuel warning (I'm probably not inputting correctly. Here's some info from the last long haul flight I did using 3 different fuel programs. 3205nm (Give or take a few nm since I forgot to write it down)KEWR - LFPGAvg Winds: 350/55Vroute Premium.Fuel: 158,560 lbsTrip Fuel: 128,100 lbsRemaining Fuel: 30,460Topcat ( I know it's not the best for fuel planning and only factors in distance and not alt)Fuel: 148,870 lbsTrip Fuel: 116, 240lbsRemaining: 32,630Jonathan's Fuel PlannerFuel: 129,103 lbsTrip Fuel: 105,617 lbsRemaining: 23,486 lbsMy Actual Flight (Used Vroute info)Fuel: 158,560Trip Fuel: 118,500Remaining: 38,600Would love to get peoples thoughts about this. Let me know if I'm missing needed information.Cheers, Chris K. Chris B. Trane
March 3, 201214 yr Author Hi Chris,Thank you for your feedback. The calculations especially for the reserve fuel are always based on the weight of a fully loaded airplane so that the landing weight won't exeed the maximum landing weight. This made it a bit difficult for me to find a good point between a to heavy plane and to less fuel. However this leads to a insuifficent fuel warning. I will see what I can do about it. RegardsJonathan John Rubens
March 3, 201214 yr Sry to jump in here but, Chris sure that everything is correct? I have used this fuel planner many times and it has been spot on every time. I haven't had any low fuel situations over both long and short ranges. Just used it a few days ago to plan a flight from EDDK to KMEM (Fed Ex of course :() and even with a lot of headwind it was very accurate. Manfred G. Ships are cooler that you think.
March 6, 201214 yr Author Hi Chris,I have looked a little bit closer into it. I don't know what you have entered exactly, however I think it could be about 10000 lbs of additional weight (cargo+passengers) and you may have entered 55 knots headwind. So I get close to your numbers which the calculator calculated, however a little bit more information would be very nice. Like the distance to your alternate, your flight level, your winds and also your actual weight are very important to find any failures, however also if you don't enter them correct you won't be able to get a correct calculation. Thank you!Jonathan John Rubens

Is it only available through a certain browser? ~William Genovese~
March 7, 201214 yr Author Hi William,Nope, thats not a problem of your browser. However my provider started a server hardware update yesterday at 19 UTC. It may takes until today 18 UTC. Afterwards it should work again as normal. Sorry for the trubble!Regards,Jonathan John Rubens

March 7, 201214 yr Jonathan,Thanks for the reply. It's been awhile since I did that last flight and I wish I had written down all the information. Let me do a few more flights and get back to you. I bet I did put in 55 knots headwind, which was a mistake on my part.I do think the problem is on my end and not inputting the numbers correctly (although it is very user friendly). There have been several posters saying that it's accurate. I'll post more info and some screen shots and would love the feedback. Thanks for replying!Chris K. Chris B. Trane
