October 17, 201114 yr I just did a cool 360 with this thing, flew upside down and recovered easily..... what kind of realism is this. Is such a thing even possible on the real NGX. All i got is a 'Bank angle' warning.
October 17, 201114 yr is that not a function of FSX not the PMDG NGX Wayne such Asus Hero Z690, Gigabyte Aorus Master 5080, I914900K, Kraken 360 AIO CPU Cooled, 96 GIGS Corsair DDR5, 32 Inch 4K by 3
October 17, 201114 yr You can actually roll an airliner as long as it is a 1G maneuver. Tex johnston did it in a 707. As a confidence builder for instructor pilots, 2 kc-10s in contact would roll 90 degrees left and right during air-refueling(whifferdill). If you load up the jet with G forces, metal tends to bend. October 17, 201114 yr If a 707 can do it, then a 737 surely can do it as well. :( EDIT: Rick beat me to it!
October 17, 201114 yr Commercial Member Yeah, I was about to say it's a Boeing, not an Airbus. There's no nanny watching what you do. It's up to you not to do something stupid. Kyle Rodgers
October 17, 201114 yr In December 2000 and MD83 Alaskan Flight 261 had a horizontal stabiliser failure and runaway. During the pilots fight to control the aircraft and get it out of a vertical dive at one point they attempted to fly the plane upside down. The CVR transcript indicates how desperate the situation was with one quote "gotta get it over again... at least upside down we're flyin." Can't imagine what the passengers were going through in the back. As you might expect the plane was not recoverable and did crash. Graeme Graeme Brown
October 17, 201114 yr Pretty much any aircraft could easily be rolled, it's not in the least bit unrealistic as long as the G loading is kept low enough. As a matter of interest, mindful of the famous 707 test flight roll and the fact that test pilots know this sort of thing can be done safely, Phil Condit, the CEO of Boeing at the time the Boeing 777 was first test flown in 1994, told the chief test pilot John Cashman right before that maiden flight: 'NO ROLLS!' If you've ever seen an airliner at an airshow, you will know that they are a lot more sprightly than you would think, especially the 757 and the DC-10, both of which have a very good power to weight ratio, and I should imagine that given how fast a 737 can climb, that is similary capable of such fun stuff, probably even more so given its smaller size. I once saw a 757 at an airshow being flung about like it was a fighter plane, I saw it come off 23 right at EGCC in a steep climb, whizz over to EGCD where I was, and then fling itself about over EGCD's circuit, doing chandelles, power dives, and all kinds of cool stuff. It's quite stunning to witness that kind of thing since we are used to seeing them sedately flying along, but trust me, they really can do aeros, and a lot better than you might imagine too! October 21, 201114 yr Bob Hoover barrel rolled his aircraft while pouring a cup of tea and he didnt spill a drop!!An excellent physics experiment, and brilliant flying!
October 21, 201114 yr As far as the structure resists it is possible to do a 360°, and if I tink correctly the pmdg team had not take tis manouver in count as noone with passengers on board will do it, and I don't think there is a simulation of overstress for that manouver also on the real thing.I can only says that also engines and hydraulics, potable water and waste water needs to be oriented correctly, Te engine is not supposed to work upside down for a long period, oil will fall on the opposite side of were is taken, hydraulic fluid will not be taken from te tanks as the tubes are on the bottom of the tanks... So, the major problem is not only the structure, but the whole things.PS: If you are able to mantain at least few positive points of G in the manouver, it will do it without problems. It is all related to pilots hand.I forgot fuel... also the fuel is taken from the bottom of the tanks... Regards Andrea Daviero
October 21, 201114 yr I just did a cool 360 with this thing, flew upside down and recovered easily..... what kind of realism is this. Is such a thing even possible on the real NGX. All i got is a 'Bank angle' warning. Boeing didn't think it was necessary to include an 'Upside Down' warning. There are better indications like your coffee pooling on the overhead panel for example. October 21, 201114 yr Bank angle is the only alarm also on the real, the other alarms will be engine shut down or fire, waste liquid in the cabin, hydraulic low pressure and so on, but only if you fly upside down for some time... but it is probably not simulated as the manouver is not covered under normal usage of the plane. If you do in real life without permission, you risk your job. Regards Andrea Daviero
October 21, 201114 yr Concorde was rolled by a test pilot too. That's nothing! http://www.youtube.c...USINPeUA#t=4m9s
October 21, 201114 yr That's nothing! http://www.youtube.c...USINPeUA#t=4m9s I thought that was a spoof....oh my they actually made that film? October 21, 201114 yr I thought that was a spoof....oh my they actually made that film? Yup! And the best thing is: after that ordeal the Concorde gets a bit of overnight maintenance and most of the passengers continue their voyage on the same aircraft the very next day. It's almost a documentary.
