FS Build

Hi, Here is what i suggest. 1- uninstall then reinstall fsb 2.42- right after this go on the fsb website and follow the step by step tutorial video showing you how to set up your soft.( believe me its not a waist of time, especially when you want winds aloft to appear on the main page for instance....)3- don't forget to tick fsx xml and PMDG 737 md11 J41 MSFS lines should work just be rigorous during the set up process and you'll be up and running shortly Regards Kaman BA

Hi DaveI don’t know if this will help you at all but you could try adding / checking that your FSBuil2.cfg file has something like the entries below as the last entry in that file.. [sTARTUP]STEP_CLIMBTOC_TODCLEARMAP_BEFORE_BUILDDISPRTEWPTSONMAPWINDS_ALOFTWXFORETARVSM_FLFSCISG1LDS767PMDG737NGAUTOREFRESH_ON This is about the only thing I can think off that MAY help, I hope so anyway. Hello Guys, I have carried out all your suggestions and I'm still stuck. It's very odd that the NGX forms another flight plans folder within the PMDG flight plan folder?

Hi again Dave It looks as though you have more issues than just the PMDG NGX as I noticed that FSBuild can not create flight plans for either the Level-D or the IGS gauges, all of which are located by default inside the main FSX root directory, could you double check that on your FSBuild options screen that you have something similar to the attached screen shot, as setting the root FSX directory should automatically fill in the locations of all the available flight plan export locations. I hope it helps. Jim Hodkinson

Yes Jim. I haven't got the aircraft showing as PMDG though.

I used the options folder of FSBuild 2.4 and hit the top left BROWSE button. Made sure the route to my FSX was set correctly. Yours may be similar but different, the easiest way I find is to manually go to the FSX folder, find the FSX.exe that starts the flight sim, right click and drag a copy of it to the desktop, selecting shortcut. Opening the properties and setting it to locate the working file location fills in the path to the FSX folder, doubleclick that to open the FSX folder itself and the system has auto filled in the exact address to locate it-at the top of that window. Copy it and paste it in the relevant window in FSBuild Options in the BROWSE section. Mine is for example; C:\FSX\Microsoft Flight Simulator X Yours may be somewhere different. It always strikes me as odd that these computers and programs get more and more powerful yet fail on simple stuff like auto filling the correct addresses and paths in. Now whilst still in Options look at the bottom of the window where theirs a line of tabs, one of which is settings. Go there and fill in some details too like "Include TOC/TOD" and leave anything selected that already is. Further down the list under "Export To" I chose FSX GPS and PMDG 737NG because that makes a plan for the NGX in RTE format and mirrors the same one to the users Documents folder, which amongst other uses means I can use that plan in a moving map program called Plan G and connect it to the working FSX to see my aircraft and exact route. Now thats basically how mine is set. But I also have UAC turned off as I use my own firewall and AV so I fell no need for it, especially since it slows the system down and creates far to harsh security settings making it difficult to write to files without messing around. I set my FSX in a folder on the C:\ drive and the FSX.exe is within this folder so I know thats right. I installed my NGX exactly in the place it asked and it auto located FSX itself so I know that path for me is correct. Finally I tapped the "SAVE CONFIG OPTIONS" button to save my chosen settings. I then opened the FSBuild2.cfg file to make sure the settings were properly recorded in there. My FSBuild was installed in the default path it asked for and this was; C:\Program Files\FSBuild I opened the FSBuild2.cfg which I found immediatelly above the FSBuild2.exe file. This now shows as follows;

[FSBUILD]AUTOREFRESH_DELAY=1MAGYEAR=2002SBPC_SERVER=www.vatsim.netROUTELINE=1NATRAKURL=www.natroutes.glideslope.de/html/nats.php3  [MS-FLIGHTSIMULATOR]FS_HOME=C:\FSX\MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR X [FLY!] [PS1] [X-PLANE] [sTARTUP]TOC_TODCLEARMAP_BEFORE_BUILDDISPRTEWPTSONMAPFSX_GPSPMDG737NGAUTOREFRESH_ON

As you can see, the saved options were placed in the cfg (configuration) file and for me at least it works perfectly, outputting each plan I set such as EGCCEHAM and this is what I type into the Co Route. It instantly finds it, if not sooner...... Praying.gif This is where the FSBuild 2.4 auto saves my plans; C:\FSX\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\PMDG\FLIGHTPLANS this is with no further input from me other than as above. The plan formats seem to be RT2 not RTE as I thought but either way they work and its also placing the mirrored .pln in my user Documents/FSX folder too. Plan G uses these to show the route and when connected to FSX shows my plane following the exact route. That is unless the airport goes IFR. In that case I either follow ATC instructions all the way to destination and sometimes continue my planned route when they tell me to or I cancel the IFR plan a little after take off and a few miles away. Then set my pre planned VFR route in motion. Steve

Thanks Steve. My FSX is running in the default position so I cannot move it. I AM surpirised that no one from PMDG has bothered to advise really.

I have never had a problem with it. This would be a FSBuild problem not PMDG so I don't know why you would expect someone from PMDG to respond.

Sometimes we answer scenery, motherboard, video drivers etc questions .. also. Have you ever had one (edit: a question on e.g. scenery, motherboard, video drivers or other) ??

Hi again Dave If you are still having the flight plan export issue would it be possible for you to post the contents of you FSBuild2.cfg file and the DOS location of your FSX installation i.e. D\Microsoft Games\FSX, just so we can try and narrow down or at least eliminate what may be your export issue. Jim Hodkinson And I am not getting drawn into the previous posts.

I presume the Commander plan isn`t in the FSX folder and I can see that plan is saved ok. But the rest are in sub folders within FSX itself and do not save. Now I wonder if this is a typical MS over the top security problem. IE....UAC turned on, not installed with Admin rights....I even right clicked my FSX folder and set it Full control, modify, Read & execute, Read, Write status in the Security Tab then applied it. Even though I didn`t install in the default Profiles location, instead opting for the root of the C:\ as in C:\FSX\Microsoft Flight Simulator X. Its going to be something very silly and simple this I feel. But I have been there before with this problem and cursed to high heaven about it. FSBuild can be a right so and so to install and set up properly sometimes for some people but once done it works almost perfectly. Steve

Are you sure you have the PMDG/737/747/MD-11/J-41(MSFS) option selected in the "Export To" menu? None of your posts in this thread, confirms that. If not you can set it each time you run, or set it to default in the Options/Settings tab. (It's listed PMDG 737NG) Edit: Never mind, Just saw your screenshot, which verifies, it's set, what it does indicate though, is your FS_HOME export folder is not set or is corrupted. Go to your Options/ export folder tab, the first entry should be your FSX Home folder. The following entries, should be the addon folders prefixed with the FSX home folder. If not click Browse on the first entry and reselect it, it should correct the problem.

Thanks

Tom
