PFC setup with 737NGX

Thanks Tom. Just installed it and things are better with far less jitter. Have ordered the latest upgrade to the cct board on the throttle controller which has all chips soldered in place as opposed to mine where several are socketed and thus can work slightly loose over a period of time. I'll let you know how it goes.cheers Brian
Hi Brian,I replaced mine a couple of months ago and it made a big difference as I think the pots in the old one were getting noisy. FYI: As I remember (which I don't do very well any more) the board installs opposite to the existing one and requires a little tinkering. It wasn't that hard to figure out, but got my attention at the moment. A few of the pushrods were also slow in responding so I put a light lubricant on them.Hope all goes well.Tom Hibben

Hi Tom, just installed new pfc board (Rev C) still get stutters on all axes tho !! also now have reduced range on aileron axis only ( 64-127) rather than 0-127 . Anyone else had this issue??Brian Harrison

Brian,There are a couple of areas you might check. When you say you get stutters on all axis do you mean flight controls as well as throttles? In any case in the FSUIPC setup module on the misc. page there are check boxes to control spike elimination for the rudder, elevator and aileron. I have those checked. In the PFC module on the first page there is a check box to eliminate interference from other throttles. I have this checked also.Don't know if either of these will help you but they are worth a try.Tom

Yes, all axes. I have the flight controls filtered box ticked . but I will have another play around with the pfc/fsuipc configs today.cheers, Brian

Hi BobThis was very interesting to read and digest.I spent a good few hours making FSUIPC mouse macros for this 737NGX today... all worked very well, then I see this post...I tried your idea and could only get item 2 (spoilers arm/disarm) to work (actualy I ticked both up & down direction boxes, so the lever works both ways)I have copied my text from the ini file, and would be interested to compare it to your text to see where I'm going wrong?[Axes.PMDG 737-800NGX PMDG House Winglets]0=17X,5121=17X,U,8901,14577,66065,02=17X,B,5547,8643,65853,03=17X,B,-2967,645,65786,04=17X,B,-8386,-4773,65786,05=17X,D,-16384,-8902,66064,0I've been flying this bird non-stop today, she's the best!regardsClive
@Clive--the problem is that you are using the axis ranges to send FSX native spoiler commands rather than using the PMDG panel's spoiler controls. The FSX spoiler logic is hopelessly dorked. In the NGX's FMC you can set keyboard shortcuts for spoilers down, arm/disarm, 50%, flight detent, and full down. In the FMC options page I assigned Shift-F1 through Shift-F5 (that last one in my post above was a typo, should be SHF-F5 instead of SHF-F4) as those keyboard shortcuts for spoilers, and then programmed FSUIPC to send those keystrokes as the lever enters defined axis ranges. The difference between my way and yours is that I send those commands directly to the PMDG panel without inviting FSX to bring its inner retard to the party.@Brian Harrison--a bad power supply can also cause axis jitter on the PFC controls due to AC ripple or other noise on the 12v power line. I long ago replaced the big heavy 12v wall wart transformer that came with my PFC originally for a regulated switching power supply. You need 3.5A at 12v for the old serial quadrant box.

Bob, thanks for info re psu. I will go and get a new one as this is as old as the original (circa 2005) and may well be issue as you state. If i cannot get 3.5 amp I will get the next available higher one ..thanks for your assistance,Brian HPS what size is the power connector , I have found several psus, mostly 5a 12 v but all have a 2.1mm connector. Is this right or will I need to butcher an old psu I have which has the correct connector???

I don't know what size barrel and pin are used on the quadrant's power connector. I'm sure an e-mail to PFC tech support can get that one answered.

W6KD,very smart solution, but how did you do exactly in FSUIPC to program the "Shift+F1-5" to an axis position ?

I have the spoiler lever on my 2 Engine Jet quadrant working fine using FSUIPC via the assigned axis and "Send to FSUIPC calibration" feature. The spoiler follows the movement of the lever including arm/disarm, 50%, flight detent, and full down. I didn't use any PMDG key commands. Go figure. :)Bob

Hi Bob,Thank you for your reply,So you did everything in FSUIPC Axis Assignment tab ? I have the same pfc control 2 jet engine with spoilers on right side.I cant figure out what function you set inside "control sent when range entered" box ! Because I tied to put Axis spoiler set with no success !please can you help me with this issue ? Thank youMax

Hi Bob,Solved ! Not easy to do but...Happy landingMax

Hi MaxPlease don't keep me in any more suspense! :-) Would you tell me what you selected in the end?I seem to get most of what to do right but am stumped at the same point you were.RegardsCliveOEAB

Ok Clive, open FSUIPC Registered,1) on " Axis Assignement" window click Rescan and move physically up and down the Pfc Spoiler lever.2) under Type of action required set button selection "send direct FSUIPC calibration "3) pop up the first window under and select "spoliers" and you have finish with this window.4) on "Joystik calibration" window press the selection arrow to visualize internal page 65) You should have the lower left quarter page called "spoilers" press set and move the lever again as you did in point (1)6) Check the box "REV" 7) Press OK and close the FSUIPC windowNow you should have the Pfc spoiler working !Happy Landing !MAX
