Still have that speed problem....

Featured Replies

Well i don't seem to have much of an issue anymore, aslong as i make sure that the waypoints are in and the vnav data is displyed which is sometimes hard to achieve

My 2p.Just descend in LVL Change mode at 240. level out at platform altitude 5 - 10nm prior to Final Approach Fix. Flying level at idle, you sure as hell will slow down. The more it slows the more it Will slow, as the nose comes up to increase lift. As soon as you start getting flaps down the drag will begin to take over. When GS becomes active you should have, I think, (works for me) flaps 15. As it crosses the top marker on the GS scale you can take gear and flaps 25. as it crosses the lower marker you can take flaps 30. By now you will be using plenty of power to stop the speed falling off. as you hit the GS at FAF you can lower the nose to 2.5degs or whatever it is these days and throttle as required to maintain your desired speed.I do not fly 737 for a living but believe these numbers arent far off, and the work for me in the sim.One other thing, which could be causing your issue. I have to calibrate my joystick before every session. Otherwise it does not go to true idle. You can tell if this is the case if you are accelerating whilst taxiing with idle throttle.

Yeah there is a slight issue somewhere if i take off in the 738 i can hit CMD & LNAV VNAV but when i try doing this with the 600 -700 it won't light Vnav up it jumps to lvl change and some times the entries i have made into the FMC won't disply the speed / alt :( thus is what causes the high speeds i think anyway as the Vnav dont always seem to respond correctly

That image / link doesnt work for me, seems to be pointing to somewhere on your C drive not on the internet?

I had problems decelerating with hf4. Sp1 solved for me, it now rarely ask for more drag.what is your cost index? tried to fill the des forecast page?Try also to uninstall/reinstall

"when in doubt, level out" suspend your descent until you slow to a manageable speed, then hold that speed with appropriate flaps/gear/speed brakes and you'll be surprised how fast you can descend and not gain additional airspeed.

I had problems with a co route i saved, in hf4 i was unable to slow down, in sp1 the same route is now perfect. So it is possible that also in this case it could be a software problem. A screenshot and more info about his setup will help to understand if it is an user error.

I use speed brakes. I know it might not be the correct way, but they get the job done! :D

Yep, those engines are idling too fast. They should be around 34% or so.

Matt Cee

Yes, in that configuration you must be in flight idle, this is the flight idle, it must be lower. Why are you landing with almost full fuel tanks? Weight is another factor in the slow down.

Andrea Daviero

Might be worth having a look at your weights...You have an awful lot of fuel left. What is your ZFW?Andrea's too quick for me..
