No FMC display

Featured Replies

Not sure why, its been working for a long time but I get no display on the 3d and 2d pop-up window of my FMC.I did have Prepar3d installed but didnt try to port the JetStream over. However, when I uninstalled P3D it took out a font needed for Active Sky so I had to put that back in. Is there possibly something else it removed I dont know about causing the FMC not to show. When I turn the FMC on theres a delay and then I get just a yellow rectangle in center of the screen as if it is try to show something.I tried uninstalling the JS41 using the exe that installs it and reinstall and nothing. Looked at my FSX.dll and didnt see the PMDG tags in there so I added them but still nothing.David Palmer

Very strange, I wonder if any legacy P3D registry entries are tricking some FSX stuff over to the wrong folders and such? Give your registry a look...That's all I can see at the moment...it's weird the J41 installer isn't setting up things correctly.

I looked for my FSX reg but could not find one? I used the Flight1 reg cleaner and it says it put it there but I dont see it. I guess there is no way to completely remove the PMDG JS41 for a complete install without wiping down the HD huh? Or doing a complete uninstall of FSX?

If the F1 Reg Tool didn't fix anything then probably time to fire off a support ticket to support.precisionmanuals.com. May be an activation issue.

The answer was given to me in a short time after making a support ticket: Thanks PMDG support team it solved my issue. FMS is blank with a yellow square showingThis can caused by a permissions issue when the installer attempts to copy fonts between FSX and the Windows OS fonts folder. To solve the issue manually:

  1. Ensure that FSX is not running.
  2. Navigate to the FSXfonts folder and find the file glassga.ttf.
  3. Open the Control PanelFonts applet, and drag the file from the FSX fonts folder into the window, which will install it.
  4. Reboot the computer and run FSX. The issue should be solved.

We've also recieved word that this issue can be caused by disabling the "Distributed Link Tracking Client" service, which is recommended by many popular "tweaking" guides. We highly discourage any disabling of Windows services. The performance gain is negligible at best and at worst you run the risk of causing strange issues such as this one. Thanks! This was causing me no end of headaches, and I'm tempted to think my install of Prepar3d did it.

THANK GOODNESS for this thread! and an especially big SALUTE to ldent. Loaded my JS 41 today and no FMS (the small yellow rectangle). This forum solved the problem within minutes.Btw... I also uninstalled Prepar3d a couple of days ago.Hope there aren't any more unpleasant surprises waiting for me.Regards to allNeal Howard

Hi Guys,i had this last night also, ive been flying NGX madly for a few moths so i thought id give my trusty J41 a few regional routes when to my surprise the same yellow rectangle and blank screen ensued. it was ok prior to installing latest navigraph (not sure if this has anything to do with it though?). ive also installed quite a few of ORBX products since flying J41 as well??HOWEVER!my fix was:1)Go into your FSX fonts folder and open it2) Open file called glassga2) click on InstallThen start FSX and load J41.......This worked for me anyway!
