November 17, 201114 yr First of all I would like to thank PMDG for giving us this wonderful planethat really sets the bar up.Prior to yesterday I still had my gtx 285 video card and plentlyof times would be see these mini stutters. For this plane Iknew I had to upgrade my computer specs are below. This would get really frustrating.Well yesterday I listeneded to the folks on the hardware and driver forum and bought my EVGA GTX 580 1.5 gb not 3gb since that would be overkill, and I read through the forums that really would not work for fsx.Now I can fly into Kennedy airport by FS Dreamteam smoth as ice, using nivida inspector, with frames locked at 30, setting were such as recommended in the cfg by PMDG in the manuals, and was able to maintain a consistent 15-20 frames with setting such as 4x supersampling 16x antialiasing not 8x aaand 85 % traffiic from UT2. Landed on 31l and from Long Beach Iwas waiting for those famous stutters, no more, just unbelievable. thei plane the 737 ngx with the many addons the painter have given us as well as pmdg and the delivery manager has made this quite an experience. I have recently tested and flewi into other airports like kfll, Fort LauderDale,FS Dreamteam but yesterday the settings were lower 8x antialising and no sumpersampling, was starting out and using drivers 285.62.and had just picked up the video card.Concluding if youhave the right system and everything matches from the processor to the graphic card etc, this plane by PMDG 737 ngx"is a must have" to put in your hanger. Plus with all the addon deliveries want to thank all the painters for their hardwork, and giving us many choices.Just wanted to say to PMDG for doing an awsomesome job a great job!!!!!!thanks you so much, Ronny
November 17, 201114 yr I have the gtx285 and a i7 940 (with less than 5% of overclock when needed). I run FSX in dx10 mode and it works much better than in dx9, with a graphic better than I can reach in dx9 mode.Have you tried DX10 before buying a new card? Regards Andrea Daviero
November 17, 201114 yr DX10 is broken. The only reason you get better performance in DX10 is cause Antialiasing does not work in DX10, hence the increase in frame rates. I would never fly without Antialiasing and Anisotropic filtering. Paul Deemer
November 17, 201114 yr Running an EVGA GTX580 1.5GB here too. Smooth as silk. What driver version are you running? Dave P. Woycek
November 17, 201114 yr HiI have two GTX 580 cards and three monitors. two of which are HD. How can use the two HD monitors to spread the FSX display while having the third for maps?I have tries activation of the SLI but that resulted a spread on all three monitors with maximim resolution of about 3900 pixels wide which are what two HD monitors need but this was spread across threee monitors thereby reducing the total resolution/Can anyone help ?Moshe
November 17, 201114 yr Author If you have the money its worth every cent the 580gtx and I use only dx9, dx 10 causes flickering and just too many issues

It messes up 2d surround resolutions. I rolled back to 275.33 & get 5996x1080 with the bezel correction. Regarding the 2-monitor vc, you could run fsx in windowed mode taking up 2 monitors. That's the only way to do it with Nvidia surround.EDIT: You could also add a cheap 3rd non-sli card for a 4th accessory monitor. That's what I have, 3-monitor VC and a 4th touchscreen monitor for fsc & an undocked cdu. November 17, 201114 yr Hi KennethI see in the nvidia that the graphics driver is 280.26. and the maximum resolution i get is 3915X1024 it does not allow me to select higheri don't know the cards and how to roll anything back. regarding fsx i know i can operate it in a window mode but the resolution is the problemMoshe
November 17, 201114 yr DX10 is broken. The only reason you get better performance in DX10 is cause Antialiasing does not work in DX10, hence the increase in frame rates. I would never fly without Antialiasing and Anisotropic filtering. As posted before, I tried FSX in DX9 mode, without any filtering (so to make all happy) and I had 10 and more FPS less than in dx10 mode. And in DX10 mode I have something like filtering as I can see it better than having some filtering active. This is my sim recorded with fraps:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZhWnfiNbN4&feature=relatedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4J3e9fRn4QI cannot see too much difference between my dx10 mode to the dx9 with filtering, and to have a similar graphic with AA and AS active I will lose most of my FPS.Already tried, dx9 abandoned, same for the add ons not dx10 preview compatible. November 17, 201114 yr Showing the interior view of the NGX is not showing us anything. If you want to do a comparison then show a complex airport scenery such as Aerosoft or FSDreamteam. If you want to keep using DX10 go ahead but it still broken and was never fully optimzed or finished. It does not run correctly with most addons and if it does with poor results including no antialiasing. 95 percent of the scenery out there is not going to display correctly in DX10 mode either, so what is the point of limiting yourself this way for a couple FPS? No Thanks! Paul Deemer
November 17, 201114 yr With a gtx285 10 fps of difference on 25 of averge, make a big difference.I'll try with Munich airport with both dx9 and 10... Regards Andrea Daviero
November 17, 201114 yr Confirmed... Performances on my systems are better in dx 10, in dx9 with same settings I lose about 5-10fps also on Munich mega airport. with AI traffic and ASE.The only visual change is about the bloom effect that is less visible in dx10 All other things seems to be fine. Regards Andrea Daviero

Its not even DX10 its DX10 preview (BETA). Ron Hamilton "95% is half the truth, but most of it is lies, but if you read half of what is written, you'll be okay." __ Honey Boo Boo's Mom
November 17, 201114 yr Whatever it is, I use the one that gives me better performances without losing details. :) Regards Andrea Daviero
