Wings of Power (A2A) p51d/h (http://www.a2asimula....com/store/p51/).. The FSD Piaggio avanti is a good bird too (http://www.fsd-inter.../Hangar/Avanti/) however overspeeds very easily which can really ruin your day.. Trust us, we know.. :)
Totally agree with the A2A P51 d/h . Even without the race it is a beautiful aircraft to own and fly . The FSD Piaggio Avanti is a nice FS9 plane but does not port over to FSX nicely . Another good payware we like with similar performance to the Avanti is the Lionheart Epic http://www.lionheartcreations.com/Epic_LT.html . Happy flying :)

Speaking of Avantis, does anyone have experience with the new(er) Wilco Avanti? Is it as fast as the FSD one? As sensitive to overspeeds? It would be nice if it was possible to get a fast plane that was released in the last couple of years ;)Edit: and +1 on the Epic LT, it's a nice plane :)

I saw a recent post someone saying it's junk...Didn't really think that was "fair"... it does have some quirks. Both Interior panel and Exterior are lovely...That said... FMS is basic but it does the job. Create a flight plan and it will import it and follow nicely.Descents are easy peasy... pull off power / go slightly into reverse... drop flaps once below 200kts then gear shortly thereafter. Descend at about 180kts or so... nowhere near redline. IIRC, I start around 15nm out from my FAF (for the descent). Btw as much as has been said about "the other one" overspeeding and such, I have never had that problem (knock on wood). One thing I do on landing, after going into reverse is to shut-off the fuel as going back into idle is like being shot out of a cannon. Kind of bizzare but a quirk I can live with. Also to prevent attempt of the plane overspeeding in the descent, I leave it in "partial" reverse (i.e. I don't screw around with it much except maybe a minor adjustment). Then when the airspeed decays from rounding out from the descent (at about 140KIAS) I'll go back into idle or a smidge of power for the approach. It doesn't take much power for the approach even with full flaps / gear out.Edit: as far as "speed" Travis & I flew together, and he passed me during the journey... not sure if that was due to winds or if I am just slightly slower... it may be slightly slower iirc.
Suppose the next step is to do one of the legs in the practice thread?
The Winds are great for the KAMA - KGGG leg . The skies are yours Lowflyer :) 25000ft winds are great . This was not a Practise Leg just a test :)

Probably means the 737NGX is out for now but I wasn't sure about that one anyway.
Yes, the NGX will more then likely not be flown this year unless we HAVE to fly a 737 for the race.. For example, sometimes they will give us bonus airports with a specific aircraft type there we must fly.. It can be a good or bad thing as it may be out of our way to get there for a marginal boost but hey, who knows until we get this years rules.Ohh and yes, + 1 on the EPIC, I have that plane and it is fantastic, but we are restricted to flying it below 32000 feet as its unrealistically fast above that.. :)

Thanks for the quick review, Rob! I might just go ahead and purchase it then :)I can live with a basic FMS, if I want to fly something complicated I would probably load up the Concorde ;)

Welcome, LowflyerWhen I look at the "Interests" in your profile, it says Aviation, Racing, Computers.Well, all I can say is: You've come to the right place...BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH

If I may add, there are also some good free-ware aircraft. The free-ware Avanti is what I use to fly in the race. AVSIM has the model in it's file library. It is for FSX and FS9.

Hi all,Sorry for the late posting, but I'd like to join the team again this year. Real life obligations got in the way the last few, but things have settled down again and I can pitch in again where needed. I'm planning to fly in the usual race kick-off events, and hope to be able to fly a leg or two. Here's my particulars:( Callsign ) Craig or CB( Flightsim version ) Both( Experience in Flightsim ) P-51H (FS9 and X), Alphasim Hornet + Cheyenne 400LS (FS9), some helo and the classics( Timezone =/- UTC ) -5 (Woodbridge, VA)I'll get TS3 and check in later this week, and will start running some practice legs over the next few weeks. I have all the usual suspects for FS9, but am on the lookout for some additional FSX planes. I'm planning to check out the Epic mentioned above. Any other suggestions are welcome. Cheers.Craig

Howdi Fellas,Well here I am...I flew with Flightsim the last 2 years and thought I was an accepted friend - it seems as though a select few dont want me around for whatever reason and I am tired of them making this more than a hobby anf fun thing to do: flightsimming. They have pushed me to a limit and I have broken down and not shedding a tear they will probly ban me I dont care.Lets make this the winning team this year and kick the tires and let a few pounds of pressure out of them so when we land after our flight we can relax and have a brewski with the crew.I am already a member and should have the private forum info somewhere...someone just send me the TS3 info I will look for it.I flew here 3 years ago with you all - I know Hamachi if you are using it.All I ever do is fly my simulator in my VA and have put 500 hours into the sim on Vatsim and was a real pilot in a Piper Cherokee 140 for 40 hours - I miss it; that is what health will do to ya.But I am happy and am glad to be here to support you all.I will be using FSX this year I have the kinks worked out and Duenna working and wil hit the practice threads asap.My Aircraft:Tigercat Alphasim and Shupe If I need to but prefer AlphasimF86P38Bch350 - defaultCaravan - defaultThe New Piper CubFlightsim had this thing going about a whitelist and I cannot access SOH - if you are all in line with this goings on could you please PM me with this list.Again I also need the TS3 info and I will be on tonite EST...I cant wait to be back here with you guys - I only left because I wanted to fly with other groups and meet new people - wow what a mistake I made over there - you all are so much more laid back it is not funny...and not only that you all got the 'RIGHT STUFF' .Let's just not do the Epic Lite thingy I am sure we are on target with that one LOL...that was too bad too the race was so close last year.Good luck to you all I am rootin for ya and glad to be back with ole friends...Blake - AKA MrZeta
