Featured Replies

New beta update is out. I dont really have time to mess with it now. Has anyone noticed changes (visually, performance wise, anything)?http://www.x-plane.com/x-plane-10-alternative-downloads/

Seems to have fixed the joystick assignments issue. Will test further, works for me.

FPS increase. I was averaging mid 30's. Now I'm averaging 43-47. Same settings, same aircraft.

I went up in the 40's with previous settings also.Still no HDR for me, the AA is just to jaggy.

@h2egc 40 from what?

The beta changelog page on the x-plane wiki...http://wiki.x-plane.com/Beta Release Notes X-Plane 10.02 Beta 1Hardware Support:

  • Fixes crash with Intel GPUs on Windows.
  • Fixes fatal error message with ATI Radeon X1000-series GPUs on all operating systems.

Performance:

  • Rendering settings will default based on category of hardware - in some cases this should give better fps on default settings.
  • X-Plane now detects cards that advertise instancing but don't have native hardware support; avoiding software-emulating instancing may help fps with heavy objects and moderate world level of detail. This affects the GeForce 8800, 9400, 9600, and 330M on OS X.
  • Smoke puff code is optimized - this can help fps with AI traffic enabled.

Stability:

  • Fixed numerous ATC related crashes
  • Fixed background ATC audio problem

Artifacts:

  • A number of artifacts in HDR mode are fixed.

Plugins:

  • Non-fat Linux plugins will now load.
  • Some plugins that had drawing problems in HDR mode may now work.

I'm now getting multicoloured triangles flashing up whilst flying / on the ground.Running ATI Radeon HD 5850 with catalyst 11.11 drivers. No discernable improvement in performance for me.

@zachdecou,From mid 30's to 35-55.I'm seeing a lot of fluctuation. No HDR at this point.

Frame rates in XP10 do seem to vary quite a bit, and I've not been able to nail down exactly why. That said, I tried out 10.02 very briefly this morning, and it did seem to give me about 10 extra frames per second which gave me enough overhead to turn HDR and global shadows (low) back on, but I didn't have time to do any extensive testing.

Wheres the AA? I have tried an nvidia profile while HDR is enabled with no AA and still no No AA that I can see. The shimmering is terrible. Took HDR off and tried tons of different settings. Sill very little AA if any at all.I have never seen this behavior in any game or simulation. What the heck is causing this? I even tried different drivers but still no go.Bob

Officially retired

I have exactly that to. I also have the 5870.. not sure which version of Catalyst I have, though. Anyone know of a fix?
