3. It is starting to get to much for the computer
4. Built a faster computer
5. Set FSX more detailed ( 4096 textures etc )
6. Add extra addons

Today for the second time this week I got a Out of Memory when flying with the 737NGX over Frankfurt at 8000ft and passing the airport.I have to add that I was using :

1. photoscenery Germany West 2010 with Frankfurt very detailed in 3d
2. MAP Frankfurt
3. UTX 3D nightlighting
4. 737NGX high res textures interior + exterior
5. one wide view of 3x 26" in 5040x1050
6. VRI MCP + CDU
7. AI Smooth
8. 3D Real Cockpit Effetcs
9. MT 5.4 high res aircraft = MT Live Realtime schedules

Sounds formiliar ?Than you are like me........Perhaps a little tuning extra.Or I might think about upgrading again . Already 4 months have past .....

You can access 4 gig. Go to Daniel Pistelli's site -:-http://www.ntcore.com/index.php..and look for 4-gig Patch. Unpack it, run the exe, browse for fsx.exe and click 'Open'. It will allow fsx to access up to the 4-gig limit.Second - don't let Windows control your swap space: Choose 'Custom', and 12288 in each box - 12288 in Min and 12288 in the Max box, apply it and reboot.

Hey Paul thanks, I have a question about the paging file, Im going to try the 12288, but I have fsx on a separate drive so should I have a paging file set up on this drive too aswell as the one on my OS drive?

If the original poster is using SP2 or Acceleration the fsx executeable ia already 4GB aware and the patch is not needed.

Me too, Mr. S. - you can put a paging file on each drive, or only on one drive: I'm not sure, but I heard somewhere that two paging files behave much like a parallel write onto two drives: don't know if that's true, or not. I personally have 8 gig (8192) on the C drive and another 8 gig on the E drive, with FSX being on the F drive with no swap file. Industry standards suggest normal swap space should be 1.5 times the installed RAM, but many Oracle admins recommend double the RAM size.

Tried the 4Gb Patch.Downloaded it 3 times.Windows keeps telling me that it can't open the excutable.... If FSX is already 4Gb patched ( I use Acc ) than I have reached the max. My Swap file is set to 1Gb fixed for maximum performance.

I got this from GaryG on the DigitalThemePark TeamSpeak, yesterday, Sarge - and he suggested that whereas SP2 comes with a modified .exe, it is still only capable of 3.something gig: I downloaded and ran it, and it did the conversion ok, but what it converted - I don't know. I looked on Danial Pistelli's site, and could find no other info on the file, but Gary said SP2 is 4-gig aware, but this is not all useable. This patch apparently 'makes it all useable'.I originally used CCF Explorer to do my change a few years back, and have never had an issue with running out of VM. If it does something other than CFF Explorer did, there's a gain to be made: if it doesn't - then there's no harm done.

Paul J, thank you for posting this tweak! It might be a long shot, but could this help with a d3d9.dll error that is OOM related? I'm referring to the common one that people seem to get with the ENB mod. I seem to remember that being related to memory issues but might be wrong.

Just checked my VAS with FSX and it was 3.4-3.8 , so very high.My LOD is just 5.5 so I have to check other things , like medium textures for the 737NGX.

Acceleration makes FSX " large address space aware" capable of using up to 4 Gig of ram, it cannot use any more, but that is not his problem, i believe there is a highmem fix somewhere for fsx on 64 bit systems. You may have to do some research.

The Highmemfix is for graphics cards that have more memory than 1Gb.Without the fix some textures can dissappear.I was already using it.

You might want to try setting your LOD to 4.5 at most, high LOD settings consume large amounts of memory according to a post by Ryan of PMDG. Also, if you use REX, you can try running cloud resolution at 1024x1024, which in my opinion still looks very nice.

Yeah, I agree about running lower resolution clouds. They still look excellent at 1024. I think running a lower LOD_RADIUS than 5.5 makes things look very blurry tho.
