shoot!!!!! Too much hardware requires the SDK. I'm putting off the build until it's out. I've been looking at some TQs and a bunch of other stuff I'm ready to purchase but everything is quite expensive. Wouldnt want to spend all that cash for the stuff to not work. Since there are no signs of the SDK being out anytime soon, i'm putting a hold on my project. In the mean time, I will be working on the plans of the glare shield structure. Will post some pics when available.Peace fellow simmers

Home cockpit builder ...well trying anyway

ChrisA wise decision i think.I too have started just to build the mip base and investigating the mip panels (nothing wrong with that, i will build a pit and this will be needed anyway.)I have btw ordered the mcp/efis combo from opencockpits since there is a thread here on the 747ngx forum they got this working with the ngx.Let's hope the sdk or some other solution to use the ngx as the base for a home cockpit will be available soon.

Hi guys,Here is what I have in mind for the first part of my MIP:From Engravity:At first I was thinking of building it myself but the detail in the Engravity hardware is simply great.I'm also looking at a bunch of parts from Opencockpits, in particular the OH Panel. I think i'll be buying it in parts and build it myself. The one from Engravity is not as nice as the Opencockpit one.As time (and budget) goes on, i'll buy the other MIP peices until I complete the full MIP.This will be one heck of a project but in the end, will be awsome. :-)Happy simming!

That does like sweet, Chris. I hope you start a good diary for your project. We used to do that a decade ago and it was always fun and educational to follow someones build. Building things yourself isn't what it's cracked up to be as far as assembly's like this. Quality > Aggravation

Chris,Seems we are on the same path here.I also think of going with the engravity mip but i guess i will order the captain and center side at once. The center side holds quite some frequently used parts like landinggear, autobreak etc.Getting the lower part is another story. There doesn't seem to be a (payable) solution for it so i am working with a friend who has a lot of wordcarving skills to build the base for the mip where the pedals will go later and the lower mip panels.today received my OC MCP and EFIS combo but still struggling to get it to work with the NGx. (see other thread)Good luck and keep us posted as Turbine777 points it in his post.I btw am updating some of the progress by myself on mycockpit.org. Lot's of knowledge to be gained there also.(as mentioned there it takes six months reading before doing anything. But then i am more of a trial and error person. :( )

Hi guys,I found the MCP i'll be buying for my pit:MCP737EL from CPFlight. The other one they offer (MCP737PRO) is nicer but alot more exoensive. I was reading the docs and found out it doesnt work with the NGX yet again due to the SDK not being out. Good thing I checked because my finger was on the purchase button before I remembered...lol. Again, I will put the purchase on hold as well until the SDK is out. I started the framing of the pit. Will have some pics shortly. The pit is starting to take shape ^_^Everything is 1:1 scale. I'm staring to think I should make it a "Flight experience" and charge for use after it's done LOL..please let me know your thoughts about the chosen MCP.Thanks

mcp and efis work like a charm. There is a thread about it here in the forumhttp://forum.avsim.net/topic/350572-opencockpit-mcp-with-pmdx-737ngx-ready/the mcppro is a beautifull but indeed a bit expensive mcp. But it resembles the real mcp very close. If you really want to get as close as it can get than the mcppro (with the backlighting and solenoid activated at switch) is the way to go.But as my budget is limited i have to make some sacrifices now and then and i must say flying with the "cheap" mcp from OC is already a charm. But once the pit is complete i am pretty sure i will sell this one and replace it with the mcppro (but that will be i guess in a couple of years)

Hi guys,I now understand why the "research" step is realy important. So far I was mostly looking at the hardware part of the project because to me the choice was simple as to software. The NGX was the first choice and what got me into starting the project in the first place but since last night....not so much anymore. Dont get me wrong, I love the NGX but as far as building a simpit for it....I dont know anymore. There are specialized products out there for pit builders that pretty much all hardware is allready compatible with. Since i'm being blocked with the SDK stuff I think I will continue the project with the other software solutions. I will continue the project following on mycockpit.org for those interrested. Until I finish the build the NGX is my first choice for simming as it's such a great peice of software. Thanks
