zinertek 2012 textures - How many do we need?

Featured Replies

Nothing against Zinertek, but they must know that so many have bought into REX, GRAPHICS X, FEX and others. How the heck can they make them better? I think this market alley is pretty much saturated. But then again, I guess there are those who must try them all.Bob

Well I guess the only way to find out would be to try it. It is really no different than different vendors reproducing the same aircraft type. It will still boil down to be that one is either better than the other, or offers features that the other does not have.

Well they obviously know that people will buy them. If you build it, they will come.

As many as it takes.smile.png I'm not too impressed with all the "HD" stuff, but these seem to look more natural and realistic. My only concern would be some of the repetitious cumulous textures when viewed from above.

i viewed the video in anticipation as I thought they were offering something different but alas all is the same. Now if someone came out with an addon that provided us with environmental lighting based on weather and pollution then they would have something.

No matter how many products come out, I can't seem to find an addon that offers what I would call realistic sky colors (dawn, sunset, etc).Yes, REX looks awesome, and can sometimes look very convincing (again, talking about the sky colors here so please don't start huffy counter-arguments on other features), but not every day in real life looks like a screensaver. I feel like I've tried every texture set for sky colors, but living in the northeastern U.S., I just don't get in FSX what I see outside on the normal, average day.Somebody once mentioned Real Sky Pro (I think that was it), so at some point maybe I'll check that out, or some freeware sets. Any recommendations are highly welcome.

I agree with that. I still think the absolute best sunrise/day/sunset sky set is Pablo Diaz's HDE v2 sky set for a normal everyday set. His original HDE set was only for FS9 but another guy was given permission to re-do them to work in FSX. To be honest I dont think any payware package can match his sky set and its free. Do yourself a favor and google the FSX version and give them a shot, you may never use another sky set.

I have real sky pro.The sky textures are very realistic.Sandon did avery good job.I agree with Jim about Pablos textures, they are also very good.

Back to Zinertek 2012, It looks like that package is generating a little bit of a buzz on Simmarket. One of the users claims that even though the interface is simpler than REX and FEX he can't get those two to look as good as what he's found with Zinertek. Yes, opinions are subjective but I would sure like to know if anyone else shares the same sentiment because that's pretty strong praise. Having REX, FEX and X-graphics, I felt the same as the OP but if this positive feedback keeps coming in I'm likely to give Zinertek a try too.
